Base pay range $150,000.00/yr - $175,000.00/yr Direct message the job poster from iVision Consulting We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Director of Cloud Operations to lead a small team responsible for the operations, maintenance, strategic direction, and stakeholder engagement for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environments. The ideal candidate will provide leadership and develop a Center of Excellence (CoE) to drive performance, governance, and innovation in the cloud operations space. This role involves close coordination with federal program offices, vendor partners, and internal teams to ensure stable, secure, and forward-thinking OCI operations. The Program Manager will be responsible for managing cloud operational activities, leading a team of engineers and analysts, providing thought leadership on cloud strategy, and maintaining effective communication with stakeholders to ensure alignment with agency goals and priorities. What You Will Do : Team Leadership and Strategic Management: Lead a cross-functional team of cloud engineers, database administrators, analysts, and subject matter experts. Oversee team performance, allocate resources effectively, and provide coaching and mentorship. Develop strategic objectives and implementation plans for cloud operations in alignment with the client’s mission and priorities. Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture and continuous improvement mindset. Center of Excellence Development: Establish and lead a Cloud Center of Excellence (CoE) to formalize best practices, standards, governance, automation, and documentation across cloud operations. Identify opportunities to optimize operations, increase reliability, and reduce technical debt. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, knowledge management repositories, and reusable templates for incident response, monitoring, patching, and reporting. Drive initiatives to increase platform maturity, including automation, observability, and continuous compliance. Operational Oversight: Manage the day-to-day operations of OCI environments, ensuring high availability, security, and scalability. Ensure proactive monitoring, performance optimization, incident management, and routine health checks are consistently executed. Define and implement cloud operational metrics and dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs). Lead root cause analyses and drive corrective actions for incidents and recurring issues. Stakeholder Communication & Governance: Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding OCI platform health, strategy, and risks. Collaborate with client leadership, program offices, and partners to define and evolve cloud service offerings and SLAs. Facilitate regular stakeholder briefings, performance reviews, and planning sessions to align operations with evolving business needs. Translate technical operations into clear business insights for non-technical stakeholders. Project Management: Plan, execute, and manage cloud infrastructure projects, from initial planning to final implementation. Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring projects stay on track and within scope. Communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders and senior management. Security and Compliance: Ensure OCI environments comply with all security guidelines, policies, and federal compliance frameworks. Oversee access controls, IAM policies, logging, and vulnerability remediation. Coordinate periodic audits, risk assessments, and security posture reviews. Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging cloud technologies, tools, and frameworks to inform improvements. Champion automation and self-service models to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention. Promote DevSecOps and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) adoption where feasible. What You Need : Bachelors degree with minimum of 10+ years experience managing federal government programs and clients. Proven experience managing cloud operations in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. Experience developing or leading a Cloud Center of Excellence or similar governance initiative. Expertise with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and cloud infrastructure performance, security, and cost management. Strong understanding of ITIL principles, cloud operations frameworks, and service management. Strong leadership and team-building skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities. PMP certification and/or Oracle Cloud certifications. U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain a Public Trust. Nice To Have: Experience with other cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). Familiarity with DevOps or SRE models. Exposure to infrastructure automation tools and practices (Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines).
