We are looking for a Director of Clinical Outcomes to join our team at Kansas Spine & Specialty Hospital!

Duties and Responsibilities:

People

  1. Nurtures the development of appropriate working relationships with facility administrators, physicians, department leaders and employees

Service / Leadership

  9. Knowledgeable of core measures, HCAHPS and publicly reported data
  10. Performs clinical debriefings, Code Blue debriefings, Root Cause Analysis meetings and Proactive Risk Assessments
  11. Assesses occurrence reports for trends and opportunities for improvement
  12. Assist with OPPE and FPPE data collection
  13. Track and trend safety events, identifying opportunities for improvement and initiates actions plans based upon needs and acceptable standards of the organization.
  14. Mitigate risk through proactive implementation of evidence-based practices to ensure best patient outcomes.
  15. Participates with and notifies insurers as needed, to ensure appropriate follow-up and actions are

Finance

  1. Prevents readmissions by working with case management, navigator and patients
  2. Work is completed in a cost-efficient manner
  3. Performs other administrative duties as required
  4. Maintains most cost-effective strategies to meet budgetary expectations. Consistently evaluates for strategies to reduce lengths of stay
  5. Monitors HAC, HAI and Meaningful Use and Pepper reports for potential penalties
  6. Reduces financial risk to the organization through proactive risk management/patient safety and quality programs.

Growth

  1. Provides monthly staff education activities based on needs assessment / leadership requests
  2. Shows willingness to take on additional assignments to assist others in the facility
  3. Keeps abreast of current developments in quality and patient safety
  4. Pursues opportunities for continuing education
  5. Seeks personal specialty certification or educational opportunities
  6. Seeks out opportunities for organizational and program excellence / quality recognition

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates eligibility for employment in the U.S.
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing with current and valid licensure with the Kansas State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.
  • Bachelors in either Nursing or related health care field required.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing/related health care field preferred
  • BLS prerequisite
  • Minimum of 10 years nursing experience in a hospital required; 5 years direct supervisory experience; and 3 years of performance improvement experience highly desired
  • Specialty certification highly desired (RNC, CNOR, CPHRM, CPHQ, CPPS, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Kansas Board of Nursing professional nursing standards and the ANA Scope of Service standards and performs in accordance with them.
  • Understanding of Kansas Administrative Regulations, promulgated by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment as they pertain to Hospital Operations, Quality, Infection Prevention, Employee Health, Risk Management, and Outpatient Surgery requirements.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within Quality, Safety, Infection Prevention and Control, Employee Health, and Risk Management.
  • Knowledge of state, federal and accrediting body regulations and standards related to healthcare. (CDC Guidelines, The Joint Commission Standards, CMS and KDPH)
  • Ability to relate and work effectively
