Seeking a Director of Cardiopulmonary Services for a 217-bed hospital that has serves Wapello County and the surrounding southeast Iowa communities. The Director of Cardiopulmonary Services has a pivotal role in coordination and management of activities and resources of inpatient and outpatient clinical services for Cardiopulmonary Services. The director will be responsible for staffing, regulatory competence and compliance and communication with other leadership peers. The director will work as a key member of ORHC’s management team and will assume 24-hour accountability for overall management and for the delivery of quality patient care to achieve optimal patient outcomes. JOB DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: · Serves as a role model in professional behavior, leadership skills, problem-solving ability, coaching guidance, risk-tasking behavior, and interpersonal skills.’ · Works with managers and team leaders in ongoing analysis and evaluation of patient care delivery to provide high quality patient care in a cost-effective manner. · Continually evaluates with others, core processes for redesign and reengineering to improve operations, reduce cost, reduce cycle time, enhance service, and improve performance. · Participates in budget preparation/monitoring and identification of workload variability to predict and plan for appropriate staffing to enhance productivity/efficiency and maintain quality care. · Oversees all planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; approving/denying time off; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems · Represents hospital in community and regional activities. · Participates in, and seeks out, opportunities and activities that provide continuing education skills development and self-improvement. Assists subordinates to make good decisions regarding their career development. · Establishes and maintains effective communication and collaboration with hospital departments and medical staff to resolve problems, establish and implement policies, and coordinate activities within assigned department. · Creates a working environment that promotes positive employee attitudes, effective communications, collaboration, creativity, optimal productivity, and continuous learning. · Monitors quality of care and any problems/concerns that would impede quality care by interacting with patients/families and monitoring care provider’s competency on an ongoing basis. · Enables personal to make decisions at the level closest to the problem. · Provide guidance, support, and constructive feedback to perioperative management team members and other team members as appropriate. · Exhibits professional, interpersonal, and communication skills · Ensure educational resources are available for members of the perioperative services department and hold staff members accountable for attendance. · Effectively and efficiently uses manpower, material, and financial resources in accordance with hospital policies, and within established budget constraints. · Achieves improved patient care outcomes/processes by continuously assessing and improving the departments’ performance through organized process improvement efforts. · Assist management staff members with incorporating evidence-based knowledge into decisions for the provision of safe, patient-centered care in the perioperative services department. · Oversees the implementation of orientation and the continuing education of staff. · Integrates the department/service into the primary functions of the organization and achieves, or exceeds, customer satisfaction goals. · Remains current on management principles and patient care trends/models through continuing education, seminars, professional reading. · Diligently maintains compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory compliance requirements · Develops and implements policies, procedures, accreditation standards, governmental regulations, and professional standards of care that guide and support the provision of services. · Recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care/service. Has the authority to hire, fire and counsel as outlined in personnel policies. · Evokes in staff a sense of ownership of and responsibility for, their work, their coworkers, and continuous improvement of their performance. · Communicates philosophy and goals to hospital employees and constituents, including medical staff, other departments, and community agencies in a manner that enrolls the recipient. · Other duties as assigned. Skill in problem-solving techniques, to adapt to new situations, use effective conflict resolution techniques · Abilities to assess situations and set priorities EDUCATION · Graduate of a Respiratory Care Program · Baccalaureate degree in related service lines and/or Business Administration EXPERIENCE · Prefer 3 years Cardiopulmonary Management experience · Minimum 3-5 years’ clinical experience in related field of service CERTIFICATE/LICENSE Must-Haves • Graduate of a Respiratory Care Program • Baccalaureate degree in related service lines and/or Business Administration • Current Iowa Respiratory Care Practitioners License • NBRC Credentials • Iowa Mandatory Reporter Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Certificates Salary negotiable based on experience, full benefits package plus Sign on bonus and partial relocation Package.
