The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai affiliated with New York City Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Cardiology. This leadership role requires a candidate who excels in clinical practice, medical education, and organizational management to take the Department of Cardiology at Elmhurst Hospital Center to the next level. Candidates should be board-certified with management or leadership experience. The Director will lead clinical services provided within the Department of Cardiology, including inpatient and consultative services, ambulatory cardiology, cardiac imaging, heart failure, interventional cardiology, and electrophysiology, and shall be generally responsible for the administration, planning and organization, and the overall management of the Cardiology Department, including supervision of its team. Responsibilities include quality oversight, clinician recruitment, education, supervision, strategic development, and process improvement initiatives. Research interests are encouraged. The hospital is easily accessible by public transportation and car from all areas of New York City, New Jersey and Long Island. Responsibilities: Performs direct patient care activities and ensures the quality of clinical services provided by the Department of Cardiology Provides clinical leadership and expertise within the clinical cardiology team, overseeing hospital-based and ambulatory cardiology services Ensures the productivity of the Faculty and identifies and develops new clinical programs consistent with market opportunity, patient needs, financial feasibility, and with the priorities of both the Hospital and Health Systems Works with Administration to meet the Hospital and Health system goals for patient and employee satisfaction Qualifications: MD or DO, with board certification in cardiovascular disease Eligibility for New York State medical licensure Minimum of 8 years of clinical experience in cardiology with leadership or management experience Demonstrated commitment to clinical excellence, medical education, and practice improvement Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Experience in research and academia is highly desirable We offer a faculty appointment with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai commensurate with credentials, experience and qualifications. Compensation ranges from $400,000 to $420,000, excluding on-call coverage and faculty practice distributions throughout the academic year.
