Cannon United Methodist Church in Snellville, GA, has an immediate need for a Director of Youth Ministries to lead our ministry to Middle School (6th-8th grades) and High School (9th-12th grades) students in our local community.

The Director of Cannon Youth Ministries is a part-time (20 hour per week) hourly position whose focus is to provide strong, deep, and meaningful Christian connections for middle and high schoolers as they prepare for adulthood.
Our ideal candidate has a passion for making Christian disciples, integrating youth into a multigenerational community of faith. * Commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and willingness to share their faith stories with others * Knowledge of the United Methodist Church and the North Georgia Conference * Personal theology in line with the United Methodist Church * Training, education, and experience sufficient to accomplish the job responsibilities

*Essential Job Functions*
These are some of the responsibilities of the Director of Cannon Youth Ministries.
* BE THE FACE OF CANNON YOUTH: Represent Cannon Youth in a positive, encouraging, and welcoming way in the community, with Cannon's congregation, and with the lay and clergy church staff. These duties include leveraging a broad array of communication channels with the goal of keeping Cannon Youth Ministry at the top of mind for students, parents, guardians, congregants, and the community. * LEAD CHRISTIAN PROGRAMMING FOR 6th-12th GRADE YOUTH: Prepare, present, and assess effectiveness of, ministry programming for Cannon Youth. These duties include: Sunday morning worship and small group gatherings, Sunday night Cannon Youth programming, and other ministerial efforts as determined in collaboration with Cannon staff and senior pastoral leadership. * LEAD DISCIPLESHIP EFFORTS FOR 6th-12th GRADE YOUTH: Augment learning efforts with spiritual training and education designed to connect Biblical and scriptural concepts to modern issues and personal challenges. Provide spiritual guidance, and engage appropriate mentors and ministers for Cannon Youth in support of the United Methodist Church's mission, _"To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world."_ * FACILITATE SPECIAL EVENTS: Mission trips, service projects, fundraising, and other gatherings of this type are integral to the Christian youth experience. Duties for this role include the end-to-end responsibility for youth special events. A key success factor for this role will be the ability to work with, and through. parents, guardians, and volunteers in the execution of these special events. * SUPPORT CANNON CHURCH: As a member of the Cannon UMC staff, duties include attending and participating in church staff meetings, as well as being an advocate for Cannon Youth, in support of the church as a whole. * ADVOCATE FOR 6th-12th GRADE YOUTH: Create an inclusive, nurturing environment where youth can grow and thrive, using UMC Safe Sanctuary principles and guidelines. Minister to our youth in a safe and trusted place where they feel comfortable asking for help and seeking spiritual guidance.

* Reports to the Senior Pastor, Cannon UMC * Eligible for 10 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) per year. Work hours and other scheduling logistics are determined in collaboration with the Senior Pastor.
