REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer
RANGE: $55,000 - $65,000
STATUS: Salaried exempt
HOURS: Full-time. Expected 40 hours/ week, additional hours as work requires.
JOB SUMMARY: Collaborates with the Chief Executive Officer, Finance Team, Club Staff, Volunteers, and Board of Directors to design, implement, and oversee resource development and marketing strategies. The Director of Business Development is responsible for managing various events and crafting and executing robust fundraising strategies to reach sustainable giving goals. The successful candidate will guide staff in promoting the organization's mission, enhancing visibility, and engaging current and prospective supporters through innovative fundraising, marketing strategies, and impactful events. This role requires a blend of creativity, strategic planning, and project management skills to effectively execute a wide range of marketing initiatives and ensure the sustainability of the organization’s programs and operations.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Leadership
Provide strategic direction to staff and volunteers to effectively execute fundraising, marketing, and event management to fund Club operations and programs in the community.
Stay aware of the latest marketing trends, developments in the nonprofit sector, and best practices in event management.
Donor Engagement and Community Relations
Develop and implement strategies to engage current donors and attract new donors through targeted marketing and fundraising initiatives.
Represent the organization at community, networking, and public speaking engagements.
Align marketing strategies with fundraising efforts and foster strategic alliances with community leaders, local officials, and other youth-serving organizations.
Strategic Planning
Collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer, Director of Grants & Compliance, and Board of Directors to create and implement both single and multi-year resource development plans.
Research and analyze potential donors from various sectors and recommend effective solicitation strategies.
Prepare and present corporate and foundation support proposals, utilizing current cultivation and solicitation materials.
Drive fundraising initiatives such as endowments, major gifts, and planned giving, ensuring thorough evaluation and optimization of development activities.
Resource Management
Achieve sustainable small donor donations goals and other fundraising objectives.
Participate in the development and monitoring of the Club’s annual budget, ensuring adherence to financial standards and proper maintenance of donor records.
Collaborate with the Grant & Compliance Director to ensure the accuracy of grant reporting and fund disbursements.
Manage the CRM Donor database
Event Planning and Management
Plan, organize, and execute fundraising events and community outreach programs from inception to completion.
Participate in special events at different times, both during regular hours and outside of them.
Collaborate with vendors, sponsors, and community partners to ensure the success of events.
Manage event budgets to deliver each event on time and within allocated funding.
Assess event outcomes and prepare detailed post-event reports, including recommendations for future improvements.
Oversee Quarterly Fundraising events, including but not limited to Thankful giving event, Year-end giving, Youth of the Year, and the Great Futures Annual Gala.
Marketing
Create and implement a comprehensive marketing plan to support organizational goals, incorporating engaging content across social media, newsletters, websites, and print materials.
Analyze and adjust marketing campaigns based on performance metrics to ensure brand consistency and effective communication.
Responsible for managing relationships with contracted marketing partners
Develop and marketing documents, ensuring timely distribution as needed.
Board Development
Collaborate with board members on effective solicitation and income development activities.
Work closely with the Resource Development Committee to support the planning and execution of development initiatives.
Serve as the Connection for BGCA-guided initiatives to the Resource Development committee
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist with other responsibilities as needed.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal:
● Maintain oral and written contact with the Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers for exchange of information, to provide progress reports regarding activities and planned programs, and to coordinate events.
External:
● Maintain oral and written contact with other agencies, business leaders, community groups, boards of directors of such organizations, and the media for fundraising and exchanging information.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE PREFERRED:
Bachelor’s Degree in related fields from an accredited college/university, such as marketing, communications, graphic design, digital media, or a related field from an accredited institution, OR a minimum of three years’ work experience in non-profit agency operations, specifically in the fundraising field, sales/marketing.
Communication skills – excellent written and oral communication skills.
Experience in managing CRM software such as Salesforce or other equivalent CRM databases.
Knowledge of Annual Giving -or similar- best practices, donor prospecting, cultivation, and creative stewardship.
Knowledge of fundraising techniques and sources of funding for non-profit agencies and organizations.
Knowledge of: the mission, objectives, policies, programs, and procedures, and of the principles and practices of non-profit organizations, youth development services preferred.
Proficient in using various computer software programs, including but not limited to Canva, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
Evolving knowledge of and willingness to learn SEO, artificial intelligence, and other industry-specific technologies and trends.
