Bay Harbor Post Acute and Healthcare Center - Director of Business Development
We are seeking a strategic, relationship-driven Director of Business Development to lead census growth, referral development, and programming innovation at our 300-bed Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Salisbury, Maryland. This leadership role will be central to expanding our market presence, enhancing referral relationships, and developing specialized service lines that meet the evolving needs of patients, payers, and hospital partners.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Referral Growth
Develop and execute a comprehensive growth strategy to drive admissions and increase market share.
Build and maintain strong relationships with hospitals, discharge planners, physicians, ACOs, and managed care organizations.
Analyze market trends and referral data to identify new business opportunities and partnerships.
Represent the facility at community events, networking functions, and healthcare forums.
Partner with marketing team to support outreach campaigns and brand visibility.
Service Line & Program Development
Lead the planning, design, and launch of specialized care programs (e.g., cardiac rehab, memory care, pulmonary, wound care, orthopedic recovery).
Collaborate with clinical leadership to ensure program quality, outcomes tracking, and compliance.
Conduct competitive and needs-based analyses to identify service line gaps and growth potential.
Support staff training and communication related to new program rollouts.
Monitor program performance and make data-informed adjustments to improve efficacy and utilization.
Leadership & Strategic Planning
Serve as a key member of the facility’s leadership team, contributing to long-term planning and operational excellence.
Set and monitor performance targets for admissions, occupancy, and length of stay in alignment with financial goals.
Mentor and lead a team of liaisons or community outreach staff as needed.
Maintain a strong understanding of Medicare/Medicaid guidelines, managed care contracts, and post-acute reimbursement models.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Marketing, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare business development, preferably in post-acute, SNF, or rehab settings.
Demonstrated success in developing and launching clinical programs or service lines.
Deep knowledge of the Salisbury, MD market or broader Eastern Shore healthcare landscape is highly desirable.
Strong relationships with local hospitals and healthcare providers a plus.
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding census and referral growth targets.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
Highly analytical, organized, and self-driven.
Preferred Experience
Familiarity with Post Acute Care, CMS quality metrics and how they impact business development
Experience with payer mix management and value-based care initiatives.
