JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Director of Applications Engineering to lead our dynamic Applications Engineering team within the Food and Thermal Segment (including dryers, ovens, griddles and roasting equipment). A successful candidate will have the capacity to lead, inspire, and develop a team of high-performing applications engineers. This role requires technical and strategic leadership, team management, and a proven ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams to drive technical excellence and achieve organizational objectives. This role requires a deep technical understanding of thermal processing systems and heat transfer.
This position requires candidates to report to a CPM office. Eligible locations include Horsham, PA; Lexington, NC; Traverse City, MI; Blaine, MN; or St. Charles, MO.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Champion voice-of-customer (VoC) initiatives to inform product and application development
- Establish best practices for project execution including documentation, workflows, and tools to standardize processes and reduce cycle time
- Work closely with key customers to understand technical requirements and ensure solutions meet or exceed expectations
- Lead, develop and provide technical guidance to team members
- Define and communicate a clear vision for the Applications Engineering function aligned with long-term go-to-market strategy
- Develop relationships with current and new EPC companies as a trusted advisor
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, sales, estimating teams to align technical efforts with business objectives
- Drive process efficiencies while supporting customer and product testing in the Innovation Lab
- Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, competitive offerings and regulatory changes, integrating them into product and process improvement opportunities
- Represent the company in technical discussions with customers
- Track and report KPIs to ensure alignment with organizational objectives
- Align applications engineering strategies with business goals and market demands
- Responsive to requests and inquiries from internal and external customers
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering or related field
- 10+ years of technical experience in food, thermal, industrial processing
- Proven expertise in driving technical innovation, process improvement, and team collaboration
- Experience leading complex projects and R&D activities
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a global team
- Proficiency in CAD software and process simulation tools
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong project management skills and ability to work collaborative in team selling environment
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Food processing, Thermal processing or Industrial drying sales experience
- Knowledge of Engineering and Manufacturing processes
