Albany Medical College seeks a Director of Advanced Heart Failure to lead the Capital Region’s only DNV-certified comprehensive advanced heart failure program. The program is also recognized by the AHA Get With the Guidelines Award for the 20 th year. This leadership role offers the opportunity to shape a well-established, growing program supported by a collaborative team of 18 cardiologists, 5 advanced practice providers, and4 cardiovascular surgeons. . Academic rank is open commensurate with experience and qualifications. There is strong support from Albany Medical College to develop research programs.
Key Responsibilities
Provide clinical and program leadership in advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, and transplant cardiology.
Collaborate with specialists in electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, imaging, and cardiothoracic surgery.
Oversee pre- and post-operative care for transplant and VAD patients in partnership with regional surgical centers.
Contribute to teaching and mentoring within the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program.
Advance the program’s academic, clinical, and research missions.
Qualifications
MD/DO (or equivalent) with board certification or eligibility in Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology.
Fellowship training in advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, and heart transplantation.
At least 2–3 years of clinical experience as an advanced heart failure specialist at an academic medical center.
Demonstrated leadership ability and interest in program development.
Academic rank open (Assistant, Associate, or Professor) and based on experience and qualifications.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
Commitment to teaching, mentoring, and advancing the field of heart failure cardiology.
Eligible for medical licensure in the state of New York.
