Job Details
Overview The Director of Accounting provides direction, strategic oversight and leadership to financial operations of the organization, ensuring sound fiscal management, compliance with regulations, and alignment with long-term organizational goals. This role leads budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, audit preparation, and internal controls. Essential Functions Oversees, directs, and executes financial operations in alignment with strategic goals of the organization. Sets departmental goals and objectives, develops and implements best practices in financial analysis and operations. Provides financial analysis and guidance to identify long-range financial plans. Direct the preparation and monitoring of annual operating and capital budgets; tracks performance against budget and provide variance analyses. Coordinates internal and external audits and oversees forecasting and financial modeling activities. Ensures accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Supervises accounting function, including accounts payable, receivable, project accounting, and other accounting activities. Oversees recruitment, onboarding, training, and professional development initiatives for accounting team. Ensures effective communication and collaboration between financial teams and other departments. Drives continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities for process optimization and innovation. Key driver of all accounting related automation initiatives. Mentors Accounting Managers to ensure long term tenure and clear career paths. Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations. Stays current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices to drive operational excellence. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field. Ten (10) years of progressive experience in financial operations and analysis, with at least four (4) years in a leadership or executive role. Audit experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications CPA is preferred. Master’s degree in finance, accounting, business management, procurement, logistics, or a related field. Experience in financial management in construction industry.
