Purpose

The Director, North American Sales is responsible for executing sales strategies identifying, targeting, approaching and converting new customers and growing existing business in the US and Canada.

Essential Functions

  • Develop annual forecasts, budgets and measure progress to goal. Define and implement plans and strategies to achieve profitable sales growth and company sales goals. Monitor customer, market and competitor activity and provide feedback to the company leadership team. Provide recommendations on actions required to grow market share.
  • Define optimal sales force structure. Drive the attainment of profitable sales growth via Strategic Account Managers.
  • Identify training needs. Provide resources to train and develop the team to exceed sales targets
  • Develop and refine key metrics and dashboards for sales team usage and ensure compliance with customer relationship management software
  • Install and refine the infrastructure and systems to support a cadence of accountability within the sales team
  • Define sales process that drives desired outcomes. Create a culture of relentless and continuous improvement.
  • Travel for in-person meetings with customers and partners and to develop key relationships
  • Work closely with marketing function to establish successful support, private label and partner programs As required, work closely with customers on operational issues and complaints to help determine Root Cause and criticality
  • Conduct quarterly performance appraisals with team members
  • Define and coordinate sales training programs that enable staff to achieve their potential and support company objectives

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Customer service orientation with relationship building skills
  • Goal oriented with demonstrated entrepreneurial experience
  • Excellent verbal, written, public speaking and presentation skills
  • Four year business or related degree with 10 years of executive experience
  • Ability to travel extensively and manage a diverse set of priorities
  • Willingness to learn the industry, POLARIS systems & possible new markets

Safety Requirements

  • OSHA laws require the use of the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing work duties that have the potential of risk to your health or safety. At POLARIS Laboratories, when going through the Laboratory it is required that you wear eye protection.
  • Team members will be trained in the proper use and care of assigned PPE. POLARIS Laboratories provides the required PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to your Manager.
  • To ensure safety throughout the facility, all employees are required to maintain up to date HAZMAT, OSHA, RCRA, Methylene Chloride, and General Laboratory Safety training as defined within the POLARIS Quality System.
