What you will do
Lead the development and execution of the materials roadmap strategy and oversees the end-to-end materials management process from procurement to inventory control and supplier relationship management. This role ensures the efficient flow of materials through the supply chain to support production goals, cost targets, and quality standards.
Success in this role requires alignment with regulatory requirements, corporate objectives, customer expectations, and continuous improvement initiatives. Close collaboration with corporate Supply Chain Management is essential to integrate strategies and best practices across the Air Handling Unit business.
Working cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Operations Management, and Manufacturing teams, the Materials Director ensures a seamless flow of direct materials to enable on-time program delivery and cost-effective execution in a highly regulated, complex environment. The role also oversees the efficient procurement, warehousing, and distribution of inventory and material resources to meet operational demands through effective materials strategies and PFEP (Plan for Every Part) implementation.
How you will do it:
Strategic Leadership Vision & Strategy : Develop and execute a comprehensive, long-term materials management strategy aligned with organizational goals. Drive initiatives that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve productivity across the supply chain.
Transformation & Innovation : Lead key transformation initiatives including digitalization, supplier collaboration, and inventory optimization. Champion lean principles and operational excellence throughout the materials function.
Cross-Functional Alignment : Collaborate with Engineering, Logistics, Manufacturing, Quality, and Commercial teams to ensure seamless integration of materials strategies with product design, manufacturability, and business objectives.
Team Development : Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team across planning, procurement, and logistics. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
Supplier Relationship Management : Establish and maintain strong supplier partnerships to ensure quality, reliability, and alignment with business needs.
Operational Excellence : Oversee planning, scheduling, and inventory management to ensure timely delivery and cost efficiency. Implement lean manufacturing techniques to optimize material usage and minimize waste.
Risk, Compliance & Safety : Monitor and manage supply chain risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. Promote a culture of safety and quality across the organization.
PFEP (Plan for Every Part) Program Leadership Program Ownership: Design and implement a standardized PFEP program to support enterprise-wide objectives. This includes material handling equipment, site logistics, warehouse operations, facility layouts, scheduling/sequencing, inventory control, and execution systems.
PFEP Integration: Ensure every part has a documented PFEP covering supplier, packaging, transportation, storage, order frequency, inventory targets, and handling instructions. Integrate PFEP into ERP and MES systems for real-time visibility and analytics.
Inventory Optimization: Leverage PFEP data to optimize inventory levels, reduce excess stock, and improve space utilization.
Governance & Accountability: Establish PFEP governance processes including ownership, audits, updates, and KPI tracking to ensure sustainability and continuous improvement.
Early Engagement & NPI: Lead early engagement during New Product Introduction (NPI) to define PFEP and lineside material presentation strategies.
PFEP Planning Cycle: Implement a structured PFEP Planning Cycle methodology, detailing cadence, data requirements, and cross-functional inputs to maintain accuracy and actionability.
Training & Culture: Develop and deploy a PFEP Bootcamp to train the organization on PFEP principles, implementation, standard work, and benefits.
