Director, PR & Communications

Flexport is seeking a seasoned Director of Public Relations & Communications to lead our strategic communications and media relations efforts. This senior-level role requires an individual with 10-12 years of comprehensive experience in public relations, communications, and marketing, ideally within the logistics or technology sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for crafting and executing our public relations strategy, enhancing our brand visibility, and leading communication initiatives across multiple channels.

You will:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive public relations strategy that aligns with Flexport's strategic objectives.
  • Manage relationships with our PR and communications agency to ensure high-quality, impactful media coverage.
  • Forge and maintain strong relationships with key press contacts and media outlets.
  • Draft, edit, and oversee the distribution of press releases, articles, and other communications materials across multiple platforms.
  • Coordinate closely with the marketing team to integrate PR campaigns with broader marketing initiatives, including social media, blogs, website content, video production, webinars, conferences, and events.
  • Analyze and report on the effectiveness of PR campaigns and media coverage, using insights to drive future strategies.
  • Serve as a company spokesperson and lead point of contact for media inquiries.
  • Provide strategic communications support to the executive team and other key stakeholders within the organization.
  • Foster a collaborative environment within a multi-matrixed organization and work cross-functionally with various departments to achieve communication goals.

You should have:

  • 10-12 years of experience in public relations, communications, and/or marketing, with a proven track record of success in these areas.
  • Prior experience in the logistics or tech industries is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional storytelling, writing, and editing skills.
  • Deep understanding of media relations and digital media strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills to measure and enhance the impact of communications efforts.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, with experience managing complex stakeholder relationships and working with executives.
  • Ability to think both strategically and tactically, with a knack for seeing the big picture while also diving into details when necessary.
  • Demonstrated high judgment and critical decision-making abilities, with a capacity to assess complex situations and make clear, strategic decisions under pressure.
  • Proven experience in managing and navigating through critical situations with high stakes, adept at quickly assessing critical situations and effectively mitigating risks while maintaining transparency and trust.

The US base salary range for this position (exclusive of bonus, equity and benefits): $158,400 - $198,000 USD
