JOB SUMMARY WCF Mutual Insurance has an immediate opening for someone who can demonstrate the WCF values to join their team as a Director of Internal Audit . This is an exempt position that reports directly to the Audit Committee Chair and administratively to the Chief Risk Officer. The person in this position plans, leads, and performs day-to-day activities designed to execute internal audit work in line with the audit plan and WCF's risk-management strategies. This person establishes a successful and independent internal audit function that assists the audit committee, board of directors, and management with the management of risk. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance or related fields; master's degree preferred. At least eight years of internal audit and/or public accounting experience . Certified Public Accounting, Certified Internal Audit, or other risk or risk or audit-related credentials . Proven leadership in managing audit teams and complex audit engagements ( management experience ). Analytical, organizational, communication, and conflict-resolution skills. Sound judgment; understanding of internal controls and risk ; and the ability to identify, evaluate, and report control deficiencies and resolutions . Excellent technical skills, verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and data competency ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Plan, manage and oversee the overall activities of the internal audit function in accordance with standards promulgated by the Institute of Internal Auditors. Assess and report on adequacy and effectiveness of management's risk identification, measurement, control implementation and overall financial and risk reporting. Provide assistance to external auditors and state examiners. Report internal audit results to management and the audit committee. Conduct performance reviews; provide consistent support, and ongoing guidance, training, and direction to internal audit staff. ACCOUNTABILITY & REQUIREMENTS Review and update the internal audit charter and submit to the audit committee for approval. Prepare an annual risk-based internal audit plan and present to the audit committee for approval Execute the approved risk-based internal audit plan Manage and successfully develop internal audit staff. Draft agenda and participate in audit committee meetings. BENEFITS WCF Insurance offers an extensive compensation package. All employees earn 4 weeks of vacation in their first year. Expected salary for this position is $112,000 – $158,300 depending on experience, education, certification, and location. Internal candidates should have acceptable job performance, 6 months in their current position, and must notify their current supervisor that they have applied for the position.
