A growing 200 bed nonprofit community hospital in Eastern North Carolina is seeking an experienced, strategic Director of Inpatient Rehab to lead its acute inpatient rehabilitation unit. The unit serves patients recovering from post-stroke, orthopedic fractures, general debility, occasional longer-term TBI, and select medical cases. In 2024, the unit had an average daily census of 9.5 but is poised for continued growth; the average length of stay is 11-14 days. N

Impactful Leadership: Lead a 17-bed adult acute inpatient rehabilitation unit with private patient rooms , supported by a collaborative dyad partnership with an engaged Medical Director. The Director will manage both RNs and Therapists and will be supported by Nursing and Quality Coordinators as well as a Unit Secretary. Strategic Growth: Opportunity to drive census expansion, strengthen referral networks, and lead the unit toward CARF accreditation. Supportive Leadership: Report directly to the VP of Operations, a long-tenured leader who values autonomy, strategy, and Lean process improvement. Our Ideal Candidate: Licensed clinical background in nursing (RN) or therapy (PT, OT, or SLP) Minimum five (5) years of clinical experience and at least two (2) years in inpatient rehab leadership Strong financial and compliance acumen with knowledge of reimbursement and CMS regulations CRRN preferred (or willingness to obtain within one year; certification support provided) Compensation & Lifestyle Details: Generous total compensation package including a base salary of up to $140K plus up to 10% annual Director-level bonus incentive , full benefits package with generous retirement plans and PTO, choice of M/D/V plans, HSA/FSA, wellness incentives, and up to $15K relocation assistance and temporary housing available Community & Lifestyle: Live in a welcoming, affordable community with a cost of living ~25% lower than larger North Carolina cities, with easy access to Raleigh, Greenville, Wilmington, and the state's best beaches
