Director - Inflight Base

Description This position plays a critical role in the overall performance, service delivery and operational effectiveness for the ORD base. The Director – Inflight Base is responsible for leading a team of 35+ management and administrative employees and overseeing a flight attendant workforce of approximately 3500 flight attendants.
Base Performance
· Directs the activities of the Inflight base to meet performance goals
· Responsible for base operational performance and develop corrective actions to improve
· Collaborate with other Operations leaders (Airport Operations, SOC, Flight Operations, etc.) to effectively manage timely departures
· Provides reporting and follow-up to Inflight leadership on performance
· Collaborating with other Inflight departments, such as Flight Experience, Scheduling, IFDM, Catering and Safety/Training, to ensure effective and efficient processes are implemented in the field
Union Activities · Collaborates with AFA and is responsible for achieving and maintaining local union relationships
· Responsible for hearing and delivering decisions on grievances
Financial Performance · Develops the annual budget plan and, in collaboration with Finance, reports on ongoing forecast and budget performance
· Develops and monitors base strategies and goals and provides input to base budget
Safety · Responsible for base safety goals including base specific employee safety and FAA regulatory compliance
· Responsible for ensuring all safety initiatives are deployed in their respective location
· Coordinates with Inflight safety on all safety investigations that involve their respective flight attendants
· Provides local support to flight attendants for any Inflight safety incident
Customer and Employee Satisfaction
· Ensures delivery of Inflight and marketing products determined by the Inflight division
· Collaborates with corporate Inflight to provide communication, training, and support to flight attendants, so they are set up for success in delivering a premier product to United’s customers. Directs the recognition and counseling of flight attendants . Provides mentoring and feedback to flight attendants on service delivery, provides recognition for superb performance, and holds them accountable when service expectations are not met
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or related experience (Bachelor's preferred)
5-8 years proven experience working in an Inflight division and supporting/managing flight attendants
3-5 years’ experience leading a team including management employees
Knowledge of Inflight contracts including experience working with unionized work groups and labor contracts
This position is onsite in ORD with minimal (5%) travel
Solid leadership, communications and interpersonal skills
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
The base pay range for this role is $155, to $202,
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
