Responsibilities: Lead the Company’s Indirect Tax function, including the compliance of sales tax, use tax, personal property tax, and other indirect tax returns across multiple jurisdictions in conjunction with external service providers. Optimize the development, transformation, and implementation of indirect tax compliance processes and technology to enhance automation, accuracy, timeliness, and scalability in reporting. Champion the interpretation and analysis of state and local tax regulations to ensure compliance and minimize tax risks across the organization, including documenting technical research and conclusions. Manage indirect tax audits and inquiries, including strategy, data gathering, analysis, and communication with tax authorities. Manage tax notices, refund claims, and compliance inquiries through automation and scalable technology. Manage the Company’s exemption certificate process, including validation, storage, and retention to support tax compliance and audit readiness. Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders regarding taxability of transactions, contracts, and business initiatives. Partner with our M&A and Integration Teams on sales and use tax diligence, risk identification, and subsequent post-close integration. Oversee the indirect tax accounting function, including the accuracy of payment remittances, accruals, and account reconciliations. Maintain strong internal controls and succinct process documentation across all indirect tax functions. Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, assessing their impact on the organization and providing guidance to key stakeholders .
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master’s preferred Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification required Ten+ years of experience in Indirect Industry Taxation or Public Accounting with Indirect Specialty in Sales, Use, Personal Property, and other Experience with multi-site, multi-jurisdictional indirect tax reporting. Ability to multitask and prioritize competing initiatives to work effectively in a deadline-oriented environment Significant experience with sales and use tax software platforms/ engines and tax automation tools. Advance skills in the Microsoft Office suite are required, including the management of large data sets, with the ability to learn new technical skills and systems related to the job Strong change management skills to continuously improve and transform the Company’s indirect tax function for scalability, automation, and enhanced reporting/ compliance.
