The GRS North America Liability Underwriting Performance team is hiring an Assistant Director/Director to support our Liability lines of business (General Liability, Umbrella, Excess, Environmental, ancillary Professional). This technical professional will use their deep technical expertise in commercial liability insurance to understand drivers to risk and performance and create consistent underwriting strategy, guidelines/reference material, and capabilities for the Liability lines of business.
This role reports to the Executive Underwriting Officer for Liability.
Job Responsibilities
Proactively guides and participates in analysis of performance drivers to create and deliver Liability-specific underwriting strategy and guidelines
Researches and develops strategies to address emerging risks and opportunities, as well as potential for exposure aggregation
Creates underwriting reference and guidance materials (including creation and delivery of applicable training) to support profitable execution
Supports creation of, and assists in delivering, pricing and risk selection tools and capabilities
Stays up to date on business and macro trends to incorporate into strategies
May provide subject matter expertise and advisory support on complex referrals
Additional Qualifications
Product, pricing & underwriting knowledge in Commercial Liability lines of business (General Liability, Umbrella, Excess Liability)
Knowledge of product offerings, business processes, product line systems, underwriting rules, pricing plans and databases
Understanding of insurance and actuarial concepts and financial metrics
Objective and results-oriented with ability to deliver change in a complex insurance environment
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business, economics, or other quantitative field
Minimum 7, typically 10 years or more of relevant work experience
Master's degree and/or ACAS or similar designation beneficial
Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis software (SAS, Access)
Must have good planning, organizational, analytical, decision-making and communication skills
Experience managing projects preferred
