Description The Director of Human Resources will l ea d the development, implementation, and management of effective human resource strategies, processes, and programs, ensuring alignment of an engaged, motivated, and collaborative workforce supporting Goodwill’s strategic objectives and goals. Serve as a collaborative partner with senior leaders and cross functional teams to create and implement a positive, team-oriented culture that supports Goodwill’s mission of providing employment and training for people with disabilities or other disadvantages, while also attracting, motivating and retaining an outstanding workforce to support this mission. Job Type: Full-time, Exempt Essential Duties and Tasks: Oversee the operations and administration of several human resource functions including Employee Engagement & Experience, Total Rewards (e.g., Compensation, Benefits, Wellness) as well as compliance of policies, programs and systems that support the strategic plan and business goals across all organizational operating units. Oversee the development and implementation of programs and services that promote fair employment practices and positive employee experiences within the organization; measure and monitor programmatic outcomes, develop innovative programs and practices that posture the Agency as an employer of choice in the markets we operate throughout Kentucky. Identifies solutions, best practices and provides counsel and support to senior management on matters of policy development and strategic implementation of human resource programs. Works collaboratively across the organization’s structure to build and foster a positive culture of excellence in which people feel engaged and inspired to deliver top results for the organization. Advises and counsels senior management on issues related to wages and salary planning and administration, pay policies, performance appraisal programs, employee benefit programs, and services. Leads the agency’s compliance and reporting efforts related to EEO, fair employment practices and other legal requirements as a part of the cross functional leadership team. Educates all levels of management on employee relations, engagement, employee experience, performance management, professional development, and effective team building as well as areas of risk mitigation. Responds to and champions employee issues in the context of organizational strategy, translating business objectives into appropriate human resource actions and initiatives. Identifies and implements best practices to build employee commitment, foster a culture of employee retention, recognition, and appreciation. Provides leadership and support to senior leaders on matters of people/performance management and policy application. Works effectively to ensure teamwork and a unified effort across all human resource functions and departments. Assures organization is compliant will all federal, state, and local employment laws and practices. Performs other duties as assigned. Positions Supervised : HR Business Partners and the Total Rewards Manager, and/or other designees as assigned. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business or related field, required. Master’s degree preferred and PHR/SPHR preferred. Minimum of 8 years’ progressive experience having successfully managed and led a human resources department preferably with a midsize to large company. A combination of education, experience, and training may be substituted when competence in the position is demonstrated. Must have strong management, organizational and employee relations experience with the ability to prioritize tasks and projects to meet deadlines. Must have the intelligence, critical thinking and analytical capability, high energy level, and competencies necessary to work collaboratively and consultatively with diverse groups of constituents. Must be comfortable dealing with conflict, with the ability to objectively coach employees at all levels through complex, difficult and emotional issues. Demonstrates knowledge of all human resources disciplines, including employment, recruitment & talent management, employee relations, employee engagement, and compliance. Must be highly motivated and a self-starter with a proven record of handling multiple projects and initiatives in a fast-paced environment. Must have a proven record of creating, implementing and leading successful teams in a fast-paced growing organization. Must have the ability to think and consult strategically, influence business decisions, and play an integral part in the success of the business. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have thorough knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulatory compliance requirements as well as federal FLSA, EEO, ADA, and FMLA guidelines and regulations. Must be detail-oriented for accuracy and uphold the highest level of confidentiality. Must be able to manage a high volume of work and competing priorities at any given time Occasional travel to other locations beyond the assigned work location as required. Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
