Position Summary : In this position, you will lead and manage a team of refurbishment project managers and ultimately be responsible for the development, planning, execution, and financial performance for refurbishment projects and programs fleetwide.
You will also develop tools and processes to standardize the way of working across the brands, including condition surveys, capital projects, brand alignment, transparency and fiscal responsibility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Manages the team of refurbishment project managers.
Develops processes for improved efficiency and transparency in the project development and execution cycle.
Develops processes to ensure optimized utilization and composition of our riding crew teams.
Close partnership with brand leadership to ensure alignment and common goals and targets.
Develops a process with the Newbuild Department for collecting and maintaining material specifications for the fleet that the shoreside team can access and update at all times.
Monitors SOA and other relevant metrics and uses the information to devise remediation plans.
Develops capability to report on current lifecycle status of key commodities, such as carpets.
Partners with supply chain to find alternatives to obsolete materials and new materials and applications that may result in cost savings.
Maintains an inventory of spares in shoreside storage and manages the intake/outtake process jointly with supply chain and logistics.
Maintains a capital projects inventory for the relevant plan years.
Aligns with the brands on prioritization of the capital projects.
Ensures that the refurbishment capital projects are completed on time and within budget and scope.
Ensures that the execution of projects throughout the fleet under operating expense meets budget expectation.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills :
Bachelor’s degree in project management, Industrial Engineering, Architecture or equivalent work-based experience.
Minimum 10 years of experience.
5 years of experience in a managerial position with multiple direct reports.
Previous experience in a maritime environment, a good understanding of the regulatory environment.
Previous experience managing refurbishment or other maritime projects preferred.
20-30% travel required.
Must have at least a basic understanding of the shipboard work environment and the various technical systems onboard.
Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as very strong negotiating, and persuasive abilities.
Ability to provide leadership and guidance.
Solid conflict resolution skills.
Demonstrated ability to handle fast paced decision making and crisis management.
Strong analytical, problem solving and logistical thinking abilities.
Strong working knowledge of regulations governing the industry, such as SOLAS and USPH.
Proficiency in Excel, MS Word, MS Project or equivalent, PowerPoint, AMOS required.
Stellar financial acumen.
