Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization: The Director of Payroll provides strategic and operational leadership to the first-line management team, overseeing all aspects of payroll administration in the Americas. This role involves day-to-day leadership, ensuring proper processes and controls, monitoring performance, and developing the Payroll team. Key Responsibilities: Ensure payroll services are processed according to established procedures and comply with legislative requirements. Maintain adherence to internal controls and support audits. Monitor team performance, ensure tasks and deadlines are met, and uphold standards. Coach and mentor staff, motivate the team, and foster a collaborative environment. Act as an escalation point, resolve issues promptly, and implement process improvements. Evaluate service performance and take corrective actions when necessary. Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and customers. Support outsourcing relationships and vendor management with payroll vendors. Assist in implementing payroll strategies, tools, and processes regionally. Set realistic team goals aligned with GBS strategy. Develop best practices, KPIs, and SLA metrics. Ensure confidentiality and security of employee and proprietary information. Participate in projects as required. Comply with relevant laws, adidas’ Fair Play Code of Conduct, and internal policies. Key Relationships: GBS Operations and Process Excellence teams External authorities, consultants, and suppliers HR Experts and Business Partners Payroll Vendors Finance Department Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to work under strict deadlines in high-volume environments Effective interaction with management levels Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills Team player mentality Customer-focused and service-oriented Experience leading teams and managing high-volume payroll administration Proficiency with SAP HR or SuccessFactors Knowledge of local wage, tax, and social benefits regulations Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications: 8-10 years of payroll processing experience with management experience Strong knowledge of payroll and time management systems Experience with payroll administration and taxes University degree in Business Administration, Finance, or similar Fluent in English; Spanish is a plus Proficiency in MS Office Experience with payroll vendors and in shared service environments
