Director for Dental Hygiene BAS program Salary: $102,676 - $115,511 Classification: Administrative/Exempt (TEMPORARY) Reports to: Dean of Nursing & Allied Health
Olympic College seeks a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as TEMPORARY the Director of the Dental Hygiene Program. This individual will provide academic, administrative, and strategic leadership for the development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the Dental Hygiene program. The Director will ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements and uphold the Colleges mission to deliver high-quality, student-centered education that prepares graduates for success in the oral healthcare workforce. A comprehensive community college, we offer instruction in Basic Studies to include awarding a high school diploma, GED preparation, and English to Speakers of Other Languages; academic transfer and workforce education degrees and certificates; four applied baccalaureate degrees, and community education in our two-county region. Essential Functions Oversee the planning, organization, administration, continuous review, and effectiveness of the Dental Hygiene program.
Ensure compliance withCODA accreditation standards,?Washington State Department of Health, and other regulatory bodies.
Provide leadership in the recruitment, hiring, mentoring, and evaluation of program faculty and staff.
Develop course schedules, manage faculty assignments, and ensure coverage of all didactic, lab, and clinical components.
Lead curriculum development and assessment to ensure alignment with current professional standards and employer expectations.
Collaborate with faculty to design, revise, and deliver high-quality instruction grounded in evidence-based dental hygiene practice.
Maintain ongoing curriculum mapping and student learning outcome tracking.
Prepare accreditation reports, self-studies, and documentation required for CODA site visits and program re-accreditation.
Monitor and document student outcomes such as graduation rates, licensure pass rates, and job placement.
Ensure that the program meets state and federal compliance, including clinical safety, HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control protocols.
Oversee the admissions and selection process for Dental Hygiene students.
Support student advising, academic progression, remediation, and professional development.
Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment that promotes equity, access, and success for all students.
Establish and maintain clinical affiliation agreements with community dental providers.
Coordinate and supervise student clinical experiences across multiple partner sites.
Engage an active?Program Advisory Committee?to ensure curriculum relevance and responsiveness to local workforce needs.
Develop and manage the program budget, including instructional resources, equipment, and clinical supplies.
Collaborate with division leadership to identify funding opportunities, including grants and external partnerships.
Qualifications Minimum Qualification
Possess an active, unencumbered, license Dental Hygienist in WA state
Bachelors degree in dental hygiene?and a?Masters degree?in a related field (Masters in Dental Hygiene, Education, Public Health, or similar).
Current Washington State Dental Hygiene license?(or eligibility to obtain).
Minimum five years of clinical experience?in dental hygiene, including?two years of full-time teaching experience?at the postsecondary level.
Knowledge of?CODA standards?and experience in accreditation processes.
Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills
Desired Qualifications
Experience in curriculum development and program administration.
Successful experience with grant writing or program development funding.
Experience in student advising and support within a community college setting.

This is a TEMPORARY full-time exempt position scheduled to work Monday through Friday. The salary for this position is $95,000 - $109,000 annually, which includes a generous benefits package that includes the following.
