JOB SUMMARY
Oversee global sourcing, supplier relationship, and cost savings initiatives for Food categories across NCLH. Responsible for strategically positioning the company for best solutions relative to the products & services we procure including collaborative problem solving, creative and standard approaches to solving complex issues.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee Food category strategies developed by Category Managers to achieve cost savings and improve quality and service levels by identifying opportunity areas such as product standardization and supplier consolidation.
Oversee all spend activity and purchase requests for Food categories and determine proper action plan for all purchases that meet the Supply Chain involvement threshold.
Provide Food Supply Chain subject matter expertise to associated business/function groups.
Effectively work with functional and business groups as a trusted advisor to determine desired product/service specifications and projected demand when making recommended action plans.
Evaluate supply chain operations and business practices and develop processes to facilitate improved efficiency at all levels within the department.
Manage Category Managers to lead cross-functional teams to execute strategic sourcing projects for assigned category areas.
Collaborate with Spend Analysis & Reporting Team to conduct analysis for category improvement opportunities (e.g., market research) and to implement non-sourcing category projects (e.g., demand management).
Work with COE and the business to ensure that all spend above established thresholds are managed strategically.
Ensure that NCLH has good supply market understanding and works with the business/function teams to provide input for creating innovative win-win customer and supplier strategies.
Proactively identify improvement opportunities for Food categories and recommend key actions to the appropriate stakeholders.
Combine all spend information into yearly plans and long-term forecasts for costs, savings targets, and planned projects.
Oversee and ensure all cuttings are conducted as per NCLH's standard operating procedures.
Monitor and interpret global market trends across all food categories to inform sourcing strategies, mitigate risk, and optimize procurement timing.
Ensure each Category Manager develops and maintains a short-term and long-term global strategy for their respective food categories, with particular emphasis on high-impact commodities.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to forecast demand, assess geopolitical and economic impacts, and adjust sourcing plans accordingly.
Lead market intelligence initiatives to evaluate supplier capabilities, emerging technologies, and alternate sourcing models that support innovation, cost savings and resilience across the food supply chain.
Perform other job-related functions as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
DEGREE TYPE: Bachelor's Degree
FIELD(S) OF STUDY: Bachelor's Degree or related field of study. MCA or equivalent preferred; or any equivalent combination of education and work experience.
COMPETENCIES/SKILLS Working knowledge of an automated logistics and purchasing system is required, preferably with MXP and SAP.
Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing methodology with pragmatism to manage exceptions.
Ability to develop category and sourcing strategies by identifying areas of opportunity.
Track record of effectively directing and leveraging procurement spend in assigned category areas by leading global cross-functional teams.
Experience managing and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
Strong leadership presence and negotiation/contract management experience.
Knowledge and experience with best practice processes, tools, and procurement/spend systems data and analysis.
Strong interpersonal and management capabilities to manage and develop Category Specialists.
Must have strong organizational skills. Strong problem solving, analytical and report summation, and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to apply change management and consulting skills/knowledge and expertise.
Firsthand working knowledge of strategic sourcing methodology required.
Strong understanding of global food commodity markets, including pricing dynamics, trade flows and regulatory environments.
Demonstrated ability to translate market insights into actionable sourcing strategies and category plans.
Experience in category strategy development and execution, with a focus on balancing cost, quality, sustainability, and supply continuity.
Ability to guide and mentor Category Managers in building robust category strategies that align with company goals.
Technical knowledge and expertise preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), proficiency in Procure-to-Pay systems (e.g. Ariba).
Team Building, technical knowledge and expertise, high degree of business acumen, management, and interpersonal skills.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES Nationally recognized professional certification preferred (i.e. Certified Professional in Supply Management).
