About the Role: The Director of Finance manages the financial and accounting functions of Palo Pinto General Hospital (PPGH) and is accountable for the financial control and reporting systems that safeguard the assets of the organization. The Director of Finance reports to the CFO and is responsible for interpreting and communicating accounting/financial results to the CFO, Administration and/or department leaders. The Director of Finance is also responsible for communicating any deficiencies in controls or risks to the CFO on a monthly basis. The Director of Finance is responsible for carrying out financial policies and procedures of the hospital as well as clinics and any other business department of PPGH. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a financial related filed . Minimum of 5 years of progressive financial management experience, preferably in healthcare Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills both written and verbal Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office skills with strong skills in Excel a must
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with healthcare-specific financial systems and electronic health records (EHR) integration. Proven leadership experience managing finance teams in complex healthcare environments. Strong knowledge of healthcare financial regulations, reimbursement models, and compliance requirements. Responsibilities: Analyze financial and statistical data reporting findings with recommendation for action. Oversee accounting personnel and collaborate with revenue cycle and reimbursement personnel. Prepare, evaluate, discuss outcomes of key performance indicators compared to external benchmark with CFO. Review and approve invoice seeking cost reduction/elimination and review and approve bi-weekly payroll. Responsible for preparing timely analysis of organization wide aged accounts receivable, hospital and clinic patient revenues, operating expenses and labor management/productivity on necessary routine basis. Responsible for accounting, reporting, and control function of PPGH. This includes producing required financial and statistical reporting, productivity, accounts receivable, and cash management. This also includes complete monthly balance sheet account reconciliation along with routine/random review of hospital internal controls. Responsible for compiling the annual Medicare cost report information for submission. Responsible for assisting in the completion of the annual operating and capital business plans for PPGH. This includes providing the hospital leaders with the necessary tools and format to complete departmental planning process. Responsible for assisting in coordinating the annual financial audit by independent auditors by providing necessary reports and analysis to insure minimal audit adjustments and comments Oversee the completion of systemic statutory filings, surveys and reporting. Detail review of monthly financials with hospital CFO and, as needed, hospital key leaders. Develop reports and provide analysis for management utilizing the financial systems report writing tools and other tools, as considered necessary. Maintain an awareness of the department’s operating environment and recommends changes to enhance efficiency and or control costs
Skills: The Director of Finance utilizes analytical skills daily to interpret complex financial data and generate actionable insights that support strategic planning. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential for guiding the finance department and collaborating with cross-functional departments and external stakeholders. Proficiency in financial software enables efficient management of budgeting, reporting, and compliance tasks. Knowledge of healthcare regulations ensures that financial practices meet legal and ethical standards, reducing risk. Additionally, problem-solving skills help the Director identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize resource allocation to enhance organizational performance.
Typically M-F, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Full-time position. Not eligible for overtime or shift differentials. The incumbent will supervisor other staff members.
