Overview Directs the Hospital's financial management activities and resources to ensure alignment with the mission, values, and objectives of Memorial Hospital Pembroke and Memorial Healthcare System.
Responsibilities Maintains knowledge of accounting principles and applies them to educate department leaders on healthcare financial policies and the accuracy of financial reports. Provides leadership and support for financial services initiatives and projects; owns project outcomes and ensures deadlines are met while providing guidance and support. Collaborates with managers, directors, and senior leadership, delivering financial leadership, direction, analysis and support to meet or exceed performance expectations. Serves as a key part of the overall finance function. Builds cross-functional networks and supports cross-team integration on multi-disciplinary projects. Serves as expert on matters related to finance across various functional areas; reviews, audits, and validates workflows and associated financials; troubleshoots workflow problems and advises on solutions; re-validates workflows. Coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget and financial proformas, and institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures. Assists hospital departments with budget compliance and conducts budget and analysis training as needed. Proactively develops, analyzes and interprets key financial performance indicators in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and trends to recommend corrective action.
Education and Certification Requirements: Bachelors: Accounting (Required)
Additional Job Information Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking, effective communication, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail, work in a stressful environment, and analyze complex mathematical data. Requires high proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook. Database experience is preferred.
Required Work Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Minimum of five (5) years of accounting and finance experience in a large organization with at least three (3) years in healthcare. Managerial experience is preferred. CPA preferred but not required. Other Education: Accounting, Finance or related field.
