WOOSTER COMMUNITY HOSPITAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Director, ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES
MAIN FUNCTION:
Responsible for the completion of all environmental services at all locations including the hospital main campus, Eagle Pass, Milltown, HealthPoint, MOB, and the Wound Healing Annex. Complies with the standards established by regulatory agencies and hospital. Maintains effective working relationships with other departments to provide a unified approach to keeping the hospital clean and patient care.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Vice President, Outpatient Services (Administrative)
MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma required, Bachelor Degree preferred
Minimum of five years environmental services experience
Minimum of three years’ experience in a leadership role
Basic computer skills
Working knowledge of infection control techniques
Strong communication (listening, verbal, and written), customer-service, organization, and planning skills
Interprets and follows technical instructions showing a sense of urgency
PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES:
Working knowledge of pertinent regulatory agencies (TJC, DNV, Department of Health), polices, codes, standards, and regulations that apply to the healthcare environment
Working knowledge of Meditech hospital information system
POSITION EXPECTATIONS:
Deliver strong operational performance by executing against Studer techniques, regulatory agency standards and programs
Continually monitoring operations by completing quality assessments
Achieve and maintain an HCAPHS record of success by implementing programmatic techniques to continually drive patient satisfaction scores
Provide overall direction and manage performance for all front line employees
Ensures employee development, engagement, and compliance with human resource related policies and standards
Ensures compliance with all contract obligations
Operations:

Writes, implements and monitors compliance of all Environmental Services policies
Oversees the development and implementation of new procedures
POSITION EXPECTATIONS - BUDGET, FISCAL, PURCHASING
Develops comprehensive departmental budget based on the needs of the department and hospital
Manages expenses and labor
POSITION EXPECTATIONS - PERSONNEL HIRING, SUPERVISION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Participates in interview process and makes all staffing decisions
Customer Service
Drives patient satisfaction and maintains an HCAPHS track record of success
Staff Development / Professional Growth:
Supports and motivates staff at both the supervisory and hourly level
Maintains departmental training program
Ensures compliance with all appropriate infection prevention, safety, OSHA, Joint Commission, and regulatory standards
