Title: Director – Energy Strategy & Large Load Growth
Location: California (Hybrid; Remote considered for exceptional candidates)

Compensation: $220,000 – $250,000 base + annual bonus

We’ve partnered with one of the fastest-growing public energy providers on an exclusive search with Piper Maddox. This is a first-of-its-kind role, created to shape strategy and engagement with large-load customers such as data centers — blending tariff and product design, market development, and cross-functional leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead strategic development and market assessments for large-load customers
• Build and maintain competitive analyses, market intelligence, and rate/tariff structures to ensure offerings are both attractive and compliant.
• Partner with internal modeling and finance teams to standardize evaluation processes and customer offerings.
• Proactively engage with data centers and other strategic customers to anticipate needs and design responsive solutions.
• Represent the organization externally at conferences, industry events, and with regulators/policymakers.
• Work cross-functionally across operational, regulatory, finance, and strategy teams to align offerings and execution.
• Translate complex technical and financial inputs into clear, actionable products — including tariffs, customer offerings, and compliance playbooks.

What You’ll Bring

• 6–10+ years of experience in energy, utilities, consulting, or data centers, with exposure to tariff design, procurement, or regulatory affairs.
• Strong understanding of California energy markets (CPUC, CAISO, RA) and key cost drivers.
• Proven ability to deliver strategy, manage cross-functional projects, and negotiate contracts/commercial terms.
• Strong project management, stakeholder engagement, and executive communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Energy, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
