Over 10 years of progressive leadership experience in data strategy, architecture, governance, or enterprise data management. Extensive expertise in Microsoft Azure data services and Microsoft Fabric, with a strong focus on data modernization initiatives. Proven track record in managing large-scale, enterprise-wide data estates within complex and highly regulated environments. Demonstrated success in implementing and maintaining compliance with federal data standards, including NIST 800-171, HIPAA, and related frameworks. Exceptional executive presence with the ability to influence, communicate, and build consensus across technical and non-technical stakeholders at all organizational levels. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
PLUS Certifications in Azure architecture, data governance, or cybersecurity. Experience in academic medical centers, healthcare systems, or federally funded research institutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and execute a comprehensive enterprise data strategy aligned with organizational priorities, regulatory mandates, and long-term institutional vision. Provide strategic leadership over the design, implementation, and optimization of modern data platforms, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric. Direct the management of the enterprise data estate, ensuring its scalability, security, and interoperability across clinical, research, and operational environments. Lead compliance initiatives related to NIST 800-171, HIPAA, FISMA, and other federal and industry standards to uphold data privacy, integrity, and security. Establish and govern enterprise-wide data management frameworks, including data stewardship, metadata standards, and data quality programs. Serve as a strategic partner to executive leaders—including the CIO, CMIO, CFO, and research leadership—to enable data-driven innovation and decision-making. Lead and mentor cross-functional teams of data engineers, architects, analysts, and governance professionals to execute on strategic data initiatives at scale.
