Job Summary
Director of Data Services reports to the VP, Analytics and Data Services. The Director of Data Services is responsible for developing and executing strategic direction, data acquisition, integration, all database technologies and associated processes. The role has the responsibility for and manages teams of architects, data integrators, and data infrastructure engineers. The most important task for this position is to provide both strategic Data Services direction and functional oversight of day-to-day data integration and ensure overall data quality and integrity is achieved, in support of all internal business and government reporting. Education & Experience Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Financial Systems, Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field or equivalent experience • 7+ years in data management, architecture or analytics. • 5+ years of experience managing data teams with emphasis on engineering • 3+ years of experience with Databricks, Snowflake and modern data orchestration tools • Must be a U.S. Citizen • Must be able to receive a favorable Interim and adjudicated final Department of Defense (DoD) background investigation • Deep understanding of relation and NoSQL databases, ETL/ELT and data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical) • Experience with AI/ML concepts and their application in healthcare use cases • Experience with enterprise-level online metadata management solutions • Experience with business intelligence and analytic solutions such as Tableau and PowerBi • Experience in coaching and mentoring Preferred:
• 3+ years of experience in Healthcare IT/Data groups • Experience and knowledge of EDI and related X12 health care transaction sets • Cloud Platform Experience (Azure, AWS or GCP) • Experience with data governance tools (Collibra, Pureview, Alation) Key Responsibilities • Oversees the management of multiple information assets; including production system databases, data warehouses, data marts, and relational data stores, as well as, employing strategies for data quality, integration, management and governance for these assets. • Develops and manages the Company's data strategy and creates the roadmap to meet enterprise needs. • Develops and implements business intelligence architecture plans, assessing cost and feasibility of system requests and ensuring that the plan supports both strategic and near term needs. • Collaborates with business unit leaders to define business requirements for new business information technologies. • Communicates a clear and compelling vision and strategy to staff and business stakeholders. • Provides leadership and manages a team of architects, database administrators, and data integrators. • Oversees the enterprise implementation of BI applications and reporting tools to support tribal decision makers, and ensure they have access to quality information in a timely fashion. • Partners with technology providers to define the platforms used for data storage, data distribution and integration. • Demonstrates leadership and guidance of data operations, governance, and enterprise information management project engagements, including: allocation of tasks to team members, management of progress, tracking of team activities and reporting, providing oversight and coaching to ensure project delivery remains within specific scope, on time and on budget. • Ensures best practices are established and maintained for all key business intelligence and data management procedures, architecture, and standards. • Defines systematic approaches to measure and evaluate data quality. • Champion of change and effectively managing the implementation of new ideas/improvements. • Leadership by example and excellence through standards and accountability. • Supports and solicits input from team members at all levels within the business. • Acts as a key opinion leader and provides industry feedback. Working Conditions Working Conditions:
• Works in a standard office environment, with minimal travel • Works non-regular hours as required
