Director, Competitive Intelligence

Overview
We’re seeking a forward-thinking Director of Competitive Intelligence to establish and lead a strategic insights function that powers our investor narrative and informs executive decision-making. This is a highly visible, cross-functional role that sits at the intersection of strategy, finance, and market storytelling. You will serve as the internal authority on our competitive and market landscape—bringing sharp, data-driven insights that help us anticipate shifts, position ourselves clearly with investors, and maintain an informed point of view at the leadership table.
Compensation
The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $193,860 and go up to $274,700. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits.
Responsibilities
- Deliver executive-level insights on competitive moves, market trends, and business implications.
- Partner with the IR team, CEO, and CFO to shape investor messaging across forums.
- Monitor public/private players for real-time market intelligence.
- Create competitive benchmarking, SWOTs, and thematic analyses.
- Collaborate with Strategy, Product, Finance, and Comms to align positioning.
- Build tools and processes to scale CI within a public company context.
Qualifications
- Deep understanding of Payments and Fintech, and closely track the private/public players, their business models, disclosures/financials, and changes in the competitive landscape.
- Experience leveraging this knowledge to inform external narratives and updates to Wall Street, and drive real-time updates to executives with cross-functional partners.
- Track record in leading competitive intelligence, business analytics, or fintech/payments coverage at a hedge fund, equity research, or investment firm.
- Ability to translate market and financial data into executive decision support.
- Experience influencing investor communications or strategic positioning.
- Experience supporting cross-functional teams in shaping high-stakes narratives.
- Developed frameworks to identify emerging competitive risks and opportunities.
- Experience using tools like AlphaSense, CapIQ, or Tegus to develop sharp, data-backed insights.
- Built or scaled a CI function with measurable business impact.
