What we are looking for:

The Director of Commercial Development develops and maintains relationships with business-critical partners focused on the spectrum of value creation, from technology development to commercialization. This role involves collaboration internally and externally with partners, understanding their needs, objectives, and pain points. It ignites an entrepreneurial mindset that delivers customized solutions leveraging Solesis’ portfolio value proposition.

What you will do:

  • Manages a portfolio of Strategic Partners and implements a strategic plan to incorporate their various business units/technology focus, synergizing with Solesis technology portfolio.
  • Development and implementation of a detailed Strategic Account Plan with functions as the “playbook” for success.
  • Prospects across functional disciplines (C-Suite, R&D, Purchasing, etc.) diversifying relationships throughout the Partner, leveraging cross-functional Solesis resources.
  • Manage existing revenue streams, while developing a new robust pipeline, rounding out the tenants of revenue.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with Marketing & Product Development, developing an individualized strategic approach evolving to Partner of Choice.
  • Leverages public information with support of Corporate Development & Customers Annual Report understanding specific Market trends, investments, and determining synergies with Solesis' portfolio of capabilities.
  • Utilizes CRM- Salesforce- effectively managing the defined Sales Process.
  • In Partnership with Marketing, develops & maintains Market awareness, SWOT, understands access systems & implant device systems supporting SAP's technology & value proposition.
  • Establishes and maintains strong industry relationships.
  • Practices effective time/territory and travel budget management skills.
  • Leads & schedules customer meetings and incorporates Solesis Team, as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with Product Development & Operations Team members to manage client expectations regarding timing, price, delivery, and project scope.
  • Collaborates with Marketing and the client-facing team on marketing campaigns and initiatives to generate leads in the territory.
  • Participates in professional growth training & accountable utilization of internal systems.
  • Identifies and participates in Medtech Industry Conferences and/or technical symposia for the purpose of networking and soliciting new clients and business opportunities.
  • As needed, provide coaching, feedback, and guidance to direct reports and take an active role in developing, monitoring, and updating career plans for advancement.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related field of study.
  • Minimum of ten (10) to twelve (12) years of related experience in business development or account management roles serving the medical device industry.
  • Three (3) to four (4) years of leading a team or managing direct reports.
  • Experience operating in a field-based commercial capacity.
  • Experience selling Textile and polymeric development or manufacturing services.
  • Experience with product or process development engineering preferred.
  • Time/territory management skills in a field-based capacity.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and value-sell the core competencies of the company.
  • Considerable experience in identifying sales opportunities and successfully closing new business.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to relate to clients, develop relationships, and present creative solutions.
  • Experience in the development of resin-based products and processes.
  • Understanding of polymers in application development and sales solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to identify and proactively pursue business opportunities.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledge of medical device industry and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite and CRM systems, specifically Salesforce.
  • Superior negotiating skills.
  • Ability to manage a technical project, understanding the client’s needs, how the needs relate to the scope of the project, and how changes will affect other systems.
  • Ability to lead technical projects and participate in strategic discussions amongst peers, management, clients, and/or contractors.
  • Working knowledge of a variety of medical device manufacturing techniques.
