Job Description The Platform Engineering organization is seeking an experienced engineering Director to lead Cloud Engineering and further its mission to enable effortless innovation of the software that drives SiriusXM. The Director of Cloud Engineering will be responsible for the overall company-wide cloud strategy and account footprint, core infrastructure, and cloud architecture advice and support. Report to the Vice President of Platform Engineering and participate in cross-team leadership activities within the wider Technology organization. Manage and mentor leaders and individual contributors. Contribute to the long-term strategy and vision of Platform Engineering and the SiriusXM technology strategy. Build strong relationships with the company’s internal developers and their leaders in order to better understand their strengths, needs, and pain points. Partner with Platform Engineering’s Product Management team to inform your team’s roadmaps. Inspire and empower your teams in executing against an ambitious product and technical roadmap. Provide detailed, constructive feedback to peers and direct reports through reviews of product development artifacts such as product briefs, technical designs, and ADRs. Stay on the cutting edge of industry trends to identify new technologies and practices that could contribute to more effective cloud usage at SiriusXM. Serve as a primary point of contact for the company’s relationship with AWS. Balance the priorities of a diverse set of stakeholders including backend and client developers, Security, Operations, Data Scientists, and Finance. Requirements 10+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or similar role, including at least 5 years in a management role 7+ years of hands on experience architecting and deploying cloud-native applications on a public cloud provider, including at least 2 years on AWS Knowledge of foundational infrastructure concepts (e.g. IP networking, identity and access management, VPNs, DNS, firewalling, and load balancing) Strong understanding of cloud computing and execution of cloud initiatives in a large distributed organization Track record of configuring and administering a large production AWS organization Extensive experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) Experience supporting development, operations, and security teams, including the ability to provide ongoing architecture and implementation support Ability to work through ambiguity and deliver clarity Passion for working with internal customers Fluency in at least two programming languages Extra Credit Experience building an internal developer platform Experience with AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) AWS Solution Architect Professional Certification Fluency in TypeScript/Node.js SiriusXM is an equal opportunity employer that does not discriminate on the basis of actual or perceived race, creed, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, alienage or citizenship status, age, disability or handicap, sex, gender identity, marital status, familial status, veteran status, sexual orientation or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state or local laws.
