Job Summary: The Director of the Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER) oversees the daily operations of the center as well as the Economic Forecasting Program.
Additional Department Summary: The Director Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER) supervises all center staff and oversees all center projects and services with expected revenue of approximately $1,000,000.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and eight (8) years of economic forecasting, modeling, and/or analysis experience; OR master's degree and six (6) years of economic forecasting, modeling, and/or analysis experience.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Skills and Knowledge: Strong organizational (including relationship building and management), communication (both oral and written), technical, analytical, and quantitative skills. Extensive knowledge of economic systems and structures at local, regional, national, and global levels and especially of the Alabama economy. Ability to identify, conceptualize, and analyze economic issues and provide insights. Knowledge of and experience with economic analysis software (especially for forecasting, impact analysis, and modeling) as well as word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics software packages. Grant writing experience and ability to market CBER services
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Economics or business discipline, ABD or Ph.D. preferred. 10 years of economic research and analysis with some administrative experience.
