Job Description Summary:
The Director of the Biomedical Sciences Program provides academic and administrative leadership for a specialized graduate program designed to prepare students for admission to professional schools (medical, dental, pharmacy, optometry, physician assistant, podiatry, veterinary) or doctoral (Ph.D.) programs. The Director oversees curriculum development, faculty management, research initiatives, accreditation compliance, and student success. This role works closely with faculty, staff, and leadership to align the program with the institution’s mission and industry expectations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
Academic & Program Leadership
Design, implement, and continuously assess the biomedical sciences curriculum.
Build and maintain relationships with professional and graduate programs nationwide.
Manage the program’s budget and resources.
Ensure academic programs meet accreditation and industry standards.
Support faculty innovation in teaching and research.
Promote student engagement, advising, and career readiness initiatives.
Faculty & Staff Development
Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty.
Foster a collaborative, inclusive academic environment.
Support faculty scholarship, research, and professional growth.
Research & Grant Management
Facilitate faculty and student research projects, ensuring access to necessary resources.
Pursue external funding and grants to grow research and program initiatives.
Encourage interdisciplinary research collaborations.
Accreditation & Compliance
Maintain compliance with accreditation and institutional standards.
Lead program assessment
Drive continuous quality improvement efforts.
Outreach & Partnerships
Develop industry, academic, and community partnerships to expand program visibility and opportunities.
Represent the program at conferences, professional meetings, and advisory boards.
Lead outreach and recruitment efforts for students and faculty.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
Doctorate (Ph.D., M.D., D.O., or equivalent) in Biomedical Sciences, Life Sciences, or a related field.
Extensive higher education experience in teaching, research, and administration.
5+ years prior leadership experience in academic program management preferred.
Skills & Competencies
Strong leadership, organizational, and strategic planning skills.
Experience in curriculum development, accreditation, and program assessment.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Proven ability to build relationships with faculty, students, and external partners.
Work Environment & Conditions
2+ years of full-time position with administrative, teaching, and research responsibilities.
Occasional travel required for conferences, recruitment, and partnership development.
