AWS's Agentic AI Organization is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead a strategic initiative focused on accelerating enterprise customers' journey to AWS. This person will be the single-threaded owner for modernization tools and strategies, leading a team of a team of engineers and product managers in developing innovative solutions that leverage generative AI to transform how businesses migrate to the cloud.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of enterprise cloud adoption. This leader will be responsible for pioneering the development of agentic AI systems that automate and accelerate the full transformation process: analyze, plan, transform, test, and deploy - dramatically reducing the time and complexity of mainframe modernization. This revolutionary approach positions AWS at the forefront of enterprise transformation.
This leader will be working closely with executives across AWS and some of our largest customers. You'll work alongside the best minds in agentic AI, ML, and cloud computing and drive innovation that directly impacts AWS's market position. Your team will be instrumental in developing AI-powered solutions that not only migrate workloads but help customers modernize and fully leverage AWS's extensive service catalog.
Key job responsibilities
Serve as the technical and strategic leader for driving innovation in migration and modernization technologies and processes
Lead and develop a large engineering and product organization, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation
Spearhead the development of AI-powered tools and experiences, using state of the art technologies
Partner with global systems integrators to drive large-scale projects
Build and maintain relationships with C-level executives and technical leaders at F100 enterprise customers
Collaborate across AWS teams to integrate new services and capabilities into the migration framework
Basic Qualifications
15+ years of technology leadership experience, with significant exposure to enterprise systems
Experience with AI/ML technologies and their practical applications
Proven track record of leading high-velocity engineering and product organizations, ideally in a startup environment
Deep understanding of cloud architectures
Strong business acumen and ability to engage with executive-level stakeholders
Experience partnering with systems integrators and managing complex partner relationships
Executive presence and excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Background in modernization or migration projects
Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements in regulated industries
Experience leading globally distributed teams

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $264,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $350,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
