This individual is responsible for designing, planning and implementing standard operating procedures to achieve industry best practices that enable reduction, refinement, and replacement in the selection and use of animal models. This individual participates on the Cincinnati Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee and performs all duties as defined by the Animal Welfare Act.  This individual participates and leads the MedTech Global Animal Care and Use Council in assuring sector wide compliance to the J&J Corporate Animal Welfare Policy. In accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position: Directs individual contributors in a matrix environment and is accountable for meaningful career development conversations and regular coaching and feedback. Participates in (or leads) cross-department teams to influence animal medicine and research strategies which includes serving on sector teams such as the J&J MedTech Biosafety Core Team and serves as lead and the veterinary animal welfare subject matter expert to the MedTech Animal Care & Use Council. Serve as an active voting member of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and participate in IACUC, AAALAC, and USDA site visits and inspections. Education and Required Experience: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine/Veterinary Medical Doctor Licensure in the state of Ohio Board Certification by the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) USDA Accredited Veterinarian, Category 2 10+ years of experience in animal care / welfare, in an industry or contract research organization setting. Extensive knowledge of animal welfare and care regulations.
