Job Title: Director – Analytics and Risk (Consumer Lending) Job Type:  Contract, minimum 6 months Location: Sacramento, CA - 3x per week onsite About the Role
We are seeking a Director of Analytics and Risk – Consumer Lending to lead the development and management of risk and return strategies for consumer lending programs. This role will play a critical part in ensuring sustainable growth, optimizing portfolio performance, and supporting the financial soundness of the organization. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with deep expertise in analytics, risk management, and retail lending, and has a proven ability to influence cross-functional teams to drive results. Responsibilities
Risk Strategy: Develop and implement strategies to assess, manage, and mitigate risks (credit, fraud, retention, for consumer lending products.
Analytics & Insights: Lead customer segmentation, lifetime value analysis, and reporting to support acquisition, retention, and portfolio optimization.
Risk Monitoring: Identify risks through portfolio trend analysis and reporting; ensure adequate metrics are in place for effective risk monitoring.
Innovation & Efficiency: Leverage technology to streamline risk processes, enhance automation, and improve customer experience.
Compliance & Industry Awareness: Monitor regulatory requirements and industry best practices, ensuring compliance and continuous enhancement of risk operations.
Leadership: Provide mentorship and direction to analytics/risk teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
Collaboration: Partner with marketing, finance, operations, and IT teams to align strategies and achieve business objectives.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (., Statistics, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or related field).
Experience: 10+ years of analytics and risk management experience, with emphasis on retail lending (origination and portfolio management).
Skills & Knowledge: Proven ability to develop and execute risk strategies in financial services across varied economic environments. Strong understanding of credit, operational, and market risks. Advanced analytical skills with proficiency in SAS, R, SQL, and Python . Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration abilities. Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
