Director, AI, Finance Systems

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 years of experience in designing, building, and deploying AI/ML solutions in a production environment, with experience in areas such as predictive analytics, natural language processing, or computer vision.
• Experience with enterprise financial processes, systems, and data structures (e.g., ERP, general ledger, financial planning, treasury, accounting principles).
• Experience working with cloud platforms, and experience in machine learning services and data ecosystems on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Preferred Qualifications:

• PhD in a relevant AI/ML discipline or a record of research contributions and publications in conferences or journals.
• Experience operating as a "customer zero" or actively contributing to the external product development and go-to-market strategies of a technology platform (e.g. GCP).
• Expertise in specific AI/ML sub-domains relevant to Finance, such as time-series forecasting, graph neural networks for financial anomaly detection, or reinforcement learning for financial optimization.
• Exceptional leadership skills with experience leading highly technical, cross-functional teams, influencing strategic direction, and communicating complex technical concepts to audiences.

About the Job

As the AI Lead for Finance Systems Engineering, you will be at the forefront of transforming our core financial operations through Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. You will operate as a technology leader, leading the strategic integration of AI across our expansive Finance landscape. You will collaborate with our Finance organization, Corporate Engineering teams, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) product development. Your mission is to unlock internal efficiencies for Alphabet, serving as the ultimate "customer zero" to refine and showcase GCP's go-to-market AI/ML offerings for the global financial sector.

In this role, you will leverage and influence Google's own cloud-native technologies. You'll operate as "customer zero" for GCP's financial AI offerings, solving internal complexity while driving innovation that shapes our external product roadmap.

We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $272,000-$383,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

• Define and execute the strategic outlook for AI/ML integration within Alphabet's global Finance systems, identifying high-impact opportunities for automation, optimization, and enhanced decision-making across functions like intelligent reconciliation, advanced forecasting, anomaly detection, and risk assessment
• Lead the end-to-end architecture, development, and scaling of robust, production-grade AI/ML solutions, working directly with engineering teams to build and deploy complex models that transform core financial processes.
• Act as a pivotal liaison across Alphabet Finance, Corporate Engineering, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) product teams, driving seamless integration of AI innovations and providing critical "customer zero" feedback to directly influence GCP's go-to-market AI/ML offerings for financial customers.
• Drive the adoption of best practices in AI/ML engineering, data governance, MLOps, and ethical AI within the Finance domain, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
