DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR (part time)


Summary

The Development Director (DD), reporting to the Executive Director (ED), is responsible for supporting the implementation of Pushing Boundaries strategic plan, objectives, and vision to achieve its mission. The DM partners with the ED and Programs Manager (PM) to develop a comprehensive development program, including strategic planning, scheduling, resource allotment, budgeting, and marketing. The DD is the primary driver of development program implementation, as well as marketing initiatives that cross into client services. The DD works in close partnership with the PM, partnering to ensure task completion and resource management. The DD is responsible for regular reports to the Board of Directors, including some board meeting attendance.

Primary Responsibilities

Develop and Manage (in combination with the ED) overarching fundraising development plan as well as develop and implement additional fundraising strategies to support the organizations mission. Establish a primary plan but develop secondary and tertiary plans given the changing non-profit climate.
Community Fundraising: Responsible for developing and executing initiatives to meet budgetary goals- including campaigns, appeals, and events.
Branding: Develop and implement consistent branding that ensures the proper representation of PBs mission, while simultaneously attracting new donors and clients.
Marketing: Oversight of all aspects of PBs presence in the public; responsible for effective and cohesive marketing strategies that support development and programs initiatives.
Grants: Responsible for identifying and applying for applicable funding resources, ensuring all funder requirements are met.
Donor Data Management: Oversight and maintenance of donor data, including CRM database, communication tools, and tracking and implementation processes. Partner with outside accounting agency to ensure accurate donor accounts receivable.
Reporting: Provide timely and accurate reports to the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and/or other relevant stakeholders identifying successes and areas of improvement.

Shared Responsibilities

Donor Relations: In partnership with the ED and Board of Directors, maintain established and cultivate new relationships with the supporter community.
Volunteers: In partnership with the Program Manager, manage and support volunteers associated with various committees, events, and fundraising.
Strategic Planning: in collaboration with the Executive Director, develop and implement a comprehensive plan to grow funding, community presence, and engagement.
Budgeting: in collaboration with the Executive Director, develop realistic, yet challenging, annual budgets that integrate into the organizations overall economic plan.
Community Outreach: in collaboration with the Executive Director and PM, responsible for building lasting and meaningful partnerships and relationships with the local business and medical communities.
Social Media Management: In partnership with The Programs Manager, determine and execute a balanced and cohesive Social Media strategy, that speaks to both donors and clients.
Operations Support: When onsite, assisting in the smooth day-today operations of the facility, including answering phones, checking in clients, and navigating client payments.
Board Support: Aid the ED and Board President in the onboarding of new board members. Provide effective training tools for incoming board members to accurately represent the organization; act as a resource for the board, providing relevant data, statistics, and tracking to better inform organizational decision-making and evolution. Serve on Board Committees and Task Forces as the ED and Board President deem appropriate.


Additional Functions

Works closely with the Executive Director to develop a comprehensive equity and diversity training and strategy for the Development team that will align with Pushing Boundaries efforts and inform the way development at Pushing Boundaries works to remain inclusive and welcoming to all staff, donors, and volunteers.
Provides support to Pushing Boundaries activities, special events, and other related responsibilities as assigned. Supports partner agency activities as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field (commensurate experience will be considered).
Minimum two (2) years experience managing fundraising activities for a non-profit organization.
Two (2) years experience in donor relations and relationship management preferred.
Experience in CRM database management preferred.
Strong written communications skills required, including proofreading skills.
Grant-writing experience preferred.
Comfort and excellence in public speaking and verbal communications required.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Experience with graphic design, photoshop, Canva, and other media applications beneficial.

Availability for infrequent evening/weekend meetings and events required. (Scheduled with notice)

Valid Washington State drivers license.

Must pass criminal background check.
