About the Role
The Company is seeking a Deputy Director / Chief Operating Officer to play a pivotal role in the strategic planning and implementation of the organization's top priorities. The successful candidate will work in partnership with the Director, Deputies, Division Administrators, and Bureau Chiefs to support a strong teacher pipeline, strengthen early literacy and numeracy, close achievement gaps, and empower students with multiple pathways to postsecondary success. This leadership position involves overseeing the internal operations of the agency, evaluating the implementation of federal and state legislation and grants, and representing the organization on various matters. The Deputy Director / Chief Operating Officer will also be responsible for coordinating the work of the State Board of Education, overseeing school safety supports, and managing the Iowa School for the Deaf and the Iowa Educational Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
Applicants for the Deputy Director / Chief Operating Officer position at the company should have a passion for public service, a strong background in educational administration or business management, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
