The Opportunity: As a Head of Data Science at JWPC, you will lead a team of data scientists responsible for applied research and development for systems that make billions of predictions a week. You will improve our existing products, drive sound decision making, and develop new data science capabilities that bring value to our customers in both the video publishing and video advertising markets.
As a Head of Data Science, you will: Lead a team of data science professionals, based both in the US and Europe
Help set the direction and priorities for the company's data science efforts
Provide a deep understanding of programmatic auction mechanics to inform model building
Be responsible for improving the data science team's productivity and performance
Collaborate with product and engineering to envision, define, and build end-to-end solutions
Supervise planning, execution, and analysis of experiments
Influence the direction of the business by effectively communicating results to cross-functional groups
Provide expertise on machine learning concepts to both the existing data science team and the broader organization
Requirements of the role: 7+ years of experience in bringing data science products into production
2+ years of experience leading data science teams
Expert knowledge of both buy-side and supply-side programmatic auction mechanics
An advanced degree in an analytical field such as (but not limited to) statistics, computer science, mathematics, operations research, engineering, natural sciences, or economics. Research experience is preferred.
Fluency in ML/AI techniques (e.g., use of synthetic data, Quantile regression, embeddings) and models (e.g., XGBoost, CatBoost), as well as experience with Deep Learning models and Foundational Models/LLMs
Fluency in SQL (we use Redshift and Snowflake), Python, and libraries such as pandas, numpy, scipy, & scikit-learn
Fluency with data science-related platforms, including MLFlow and AutoML
Good organizational skills, ability to lead multidisciplinary projects
Ability to evangelize the use of data science to solve business problems to non-technical audiences
