Creative Director
Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid 3 days/week in office)
Compensation: $120,000 base salary + benefits
Terra Recruitment is proud to be partnering with a fast-growing consumer-packaged goods (CPG) company known for bold innovation in the premium protein space. With a focus on clean ingredients, small-batch production, and differentiated flavor profiles, they are rapidly expanding their national footprint and reshaping how consumers experience protein products.
As the brand continues to scale, theyre seeking a Creative Director to lead and inspire an in-house design team and take full ownership of creative direction across packaging, digital, and brand.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Strategy & Brand Stewardship
Define and elevate the brands visual identity across packaging, digital, social, and shopper marketing
Ensure consistency and excellence across all design assets and brand touchpoints
Maintain and evolve brand guidelines across a growing product portfolio
Serve as a champion for the brand, balancing creative expression with business goals
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and grow a talented in-house creative team, fostering a culture of collaboration and creativity
Identify resourcing needs and hire additional creatives (e.g., content creators, photographers, motion designers)
Provide strategic and hands-on feedback to elevate creative output
Project & Workflow Management
Own the creative teams project pipelineassigning work, managing timelines, and ensuring on-time delivery
Align design execution with broader campaign calendars and marketing initiatives
Maintain operational efficiency while driving creative excellence
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Translate marketing and business strategies into impactful creative output
Collaborate closely with shopper marketing, sales, and executive teams
Help bring campaigns to life across all channelsretail, digital, packaging, and more
Execution & Quality Control
Review and approve all creative deliverables to ensure quality, polish, and brand alignment
Guide development of assets across key touchpoints including packaging, in-store, digital, and omni-channel
Push the team to innovate and explore fresh creative approaches
Qualifications
8+ years of experience in graphic design, art direction, or brand creative; 3+ years in a leadership role
Strong portfolio showing work across packaging, digital, and brand storytelling
Proven ability to manage multiple projects from concept to execution
Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite; familiarity with tools like Trello or Smartsheet a plus
Excellent leadership, collaboration, and communication skills
CPG, food & beverage, or wellness industry experience is preferred
