GENERAL FUNCTION: The Managing Director is a player/coach, maintaining and growing their own portfolio while providing leadership, direction, and supervision to a team of Aerospace, Defense, and Transportation (AD&T) professionals within CIB Banking. This leader ensures coordination of due diligence and workflow among team members to ensure compliance with standards and timely completion. The role involves soliciting participation in public debt issuance and requires approval by the Managing Director Committee.
This position is responsible for risk management by promoting open communication, adhering to policies, and ensuring actions align with customer and colleague interests to foster a positive experience. Operating within the bank's risk appetite, the role emphasizes results through risk assessment, management, and reporting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage relationships to maximize profit potential based on client needs.
Develop new business, cross-sell applicable Fifth Third products and services, and manage the sales process within a designated geographic area for commercial real estate loans.
Deliver value-added financial solutions to existing and prospective clients to support their business growth.
Lead the development of team members including Directors, Principals, Associates, and Analysts.
Maintain profitable commercial loan volume.
Build and sustain important client relationships.
Identify and convert businesses that do not currently maintain primary banking relationships with Fifth Third.
Develop detailed knowledge of all customer businesses.
Underwrite credit requests and approve loans within established limits or recommend higher-approval loans.
Monitor customer performance and industry trends to assess risk levels.
Identify promising business opportunities for significant sales potential.
Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and local market developments.
Coordinate client-facing activities, including credit support and product offerings like Treasury Management.
Participate in community or industry forums to expand network and knowledge.
Support Capital Markets by assessing securities and capital market services suitability for clients and collaborating with relevant teams.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide timely, constructive feedback to employees, develop their skills, and create growth opportunities. Recognize accomplishments and ensure adequate talent development and succession planning.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED: Undergraduate degree required; graduate degree preferred.
10+ years in Banking, Investment Banking, M&A, or Capital Markets.
8+ years sales management experience.
At least 3 years at the Executive Director/Director level.
Strong credit and corporate finance skills; underwriting experience preferred.
Excellent client relationship, marketing, presentation, sales, negotiation, and analytical skills.
Proven sales and negotiating experience.
Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 79, 63, and Series 24 licenses required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

Total Base Pay Range: $119,500 - $256,900 USD annually
