Complex Director of Housekeeping

The Complex Director of Housekeeping is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all housekeeping operations for the EnVue Autograph Collection hotel. This includes guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house, restaurant outlets, and event spaces. The ideal candidate will ensure a consistent, exceptional level of cleanliness, organization, and service that aligns with Marriott's Autograph Collection brand standards, while maintaining compliance with safety and labor regulations, including in a unionized work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead, coach, and manage the housekeeping team, including managers, supervisors, room attendants, housemen, public area attendants, and laundry staff.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, high performance, and collaboration across both hotel and restaurant spaces.
  • Manage departmental staffing, scheduling, payroll, evaluations, and progressive discipline.
  • Ensure union contract compliance and maintain positive labor relations through active communication and fair practice.

Operational Oversight:

  • Maintain highest standards of cleanliness in guest rooms, corridors, back-of-house, restaurant outlets, public spaces, and event venues.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Front Office, Food & Beverage, and Sales to align service delivery with guest expectations and event requirements.
  • Conduct daily inspections to ensure adherence to brand, safety, and health standards.
  • Oversee laundry operations for guest linens, uniforms, and restaurant needs.
  • Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), checklists, and room inspection protocols.

Financial & Administrative Management:

  • Develop and manage the housekeeping department's annual budget, including forecasting, labor control, inventory, and cost management.
  • Maintain appropriate par levels of linen, supplies, and cleaning materials.
  • Approve and track departmental expenses; ensure cost-efficiency in all operations.
  • Analyze labor productivity and implement process improvements as needed.

Training & Compliance:

  • Ensure all associates are trained on cleanliness protocols, safety, chemical handling (OSHA), and guest service standards.
  • Partner with Human Resources to onboard and continuously develop the team through ongoing training and development plans.
  • Uphold Marriott Autograph Collection brand standards through quality assurance and internal audits.

Guest Experience:

  • Collaborate with Guest Services and Front Office teams to promptly address guest feedback, room issues, and service recovery.
  • Champion the hotel's cleanliness and service scores by maintaining a proactive and detail-oriented approach.
  • Ensure seamless communication and coordination for VIP guests, group events, and special requests.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 57 years of housekeeping leadership experience in an upscale, full-service hotel; union hotel experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, diverse teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, chemical safety, and hospitality cleanliness protocols.
  • Proficiency in property management systems (PMS), housekeeping software (such as HotSOS, Quore), and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • May be required to lift up to 30 pounds and push/pull heavy carts.
  • Must be able to navigate guest floors and service areas frequently throughout the day.

Working Conditions

  • Operates in a luxury hotel and rooftop restaurant setting.
  • Requires regular interaction with unionized staff, hotel guests, VIPs, and cross-functional teams.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals, laundry machinery, and back-of-house environments.
