Are you passionate about shaping the next generation of nurses? The College of Nursing at the University of South Carolina is excited to invite applications for a full-time Clinical Associate Professor/Director, USC-Lancaster BSN Collaborative Program position. We’re looking for a dedicated educator with expertise in both clinical and didactic instruction to inspire and guide our undergraduate and graduate nursing students with a particular focus on pre-licensure education.
Position Highlights: The Director of USCL BSN Collaborative will consult continuously with the USC Lancaster Dean and reports directly to the USC College of Nursing BSN Program Director in matters regarding this role. The primary supervisor for this role will be the Professional Nursing Practice (PNP) Department Chair in the College of Nursing. Effective utilization of his/her independent knowledge, expertise, and judgment is critical. This person will often operate with much autonomy.
The ongoing need and the percentage within faculty workload for this position will be determined by the number of students enrolling in nursing and progressing to upper division courses.
The Director of USCL BSN Collaborative will direct, oversee, and manage the operations and promotion of the pre-nursing program offered by USC Lancaster in consultation with USC Columbia. This position will require direct oversight and management of the upper division programming offered by USC Columbia on the Lancaster campus. The Director will serve as the liaison between USC Lancaster, USC Columbia, and clinical partners.
Responsibilities: Provide oversight to the student advisor for pre-nursing students at USC Lancaster.
Direct and manage program implementation and daily administrative duties in consultation with the USC Columbia BSN Program Director.
Promote and recruit+ students for the USC L pre-nursing program and provides guidance for students not admitted to the pre-nursing or upper division programs.
Develop relationships with local hospitals, health-care providers and health-related groups.
Monitor program budget
Work with the USC Columbia Center for Simulation and Experiential Learning (SAEL) to ensure consistency and overall accreditation and program compliance with simulation instruction. Provide oversite of the operations of the USCL simulation center to include staffing and operations.
Supervise nursing faculty for the lower division nursing courses taught at the Lancaster campus.
Coordinate with the PNP Department Chair on placement and supervision of faculty teaching prerequisite nursing courses, including full-time CON faculty, USC-L adjunct professors, and student workers assigned to the nursing program. Some travel from the Lancaster campus to Columbia will be necessary to engage in program-specific and faculty role-related meetings
Represent the program at USC-L collaborative program with USC Columbia at community-level nursing-related functions and recruiting opportunities.
Required Education and Experience: Education: Earned doctoral degree in Nursing.
Credentials: Meets rank as associate or full professor. Eligible for unencumbered nursing license in South Carolina and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills, teamwork, and a commitment to innovative and inclusive teaching.
Ability to handle and manage multiple requirements under pressure.
Ability to work effectively at all levels in the USC Lancaster service area.
Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
Administrative and interpersonal skills.
Experience: Five years of relevant experience teaching and mentoring of BSN and MSN students.
