Summary
The Creative Director provides bold creative leadership, strategic vision, and inspiration for a multidisciplinary in-house creative team, including designers, videographers, photographers, and copywriters. This individual plays a central role in ensuring all creative communications align with overarching brand strategy and partners closely with the Brand Director to ensure all creative output aligns with the overarching brand strategy, identity, and tone of voice. Partners closely with Operations Director to support strategic utilization of design resources, including time efficiency and workload management. This role focuses on collaboration in developing breakthrough creative concepts, leading and mentoring a high-performing team, and ensuring cohesion and consistency across all creative outputs. This role also requires a strong business acumen alongside creative vision, in overseeing strategic resource allocation and ensuring creative strategies align with business goals. The Creative Director also serves as a key liaison with external agencies, bringing strong creative judgment and brand expertise to collaborative campaign efforts.
Responsibilities
Oversees work of Designers/Copywriters/Photographers/Videographers/Producer functions, as well as people managers and team leads, guiding all creative to ensure the work delivers on strategy.
Establish and grow a strong relationship with senior leadership through demonstrated industry knowledge and application to business challenges.
Inspire and lead a team of creatives to deliver impactful, audience-driven work that aligns with brand standards and marketing and communications objectives.
Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous learning within the creative team.
Mentor and develop team members, identifying growth opportunities and supporting career development.
Provide creative leadership to ensure consistency and excellence in visual identity and messaging across all channels and teams, guiding all MarCom team members to uphold brand standards and elevate the work.
Maintain tight alignment with the Brand team to uphold brand standards across all creative deliverables—from high-level campaigns to tactical executions.
Champion diversity of thought and perspective in the creative process, ensuring inclusive and culturally resonant communications.
Partner with Brand and Business Intelligence teams to evaluate creative effectiveness and make data-informed refinements.
Oversee and allocate creative resources strategically, in partnership with operational/project management support, to ensure strong creative coverage across initiatives.
Manage the creative team’s annual budget, technology, and tools in support of strategic priorities.
Participate in regular strategic syncs and reviews with the Brand Director and executive leadership to ensure creative direction and brand strategy remain fully integrated and mutually reinforcing.
Work Experience
How You’ll Be Successful:
At least 10 years Agency and/or in-house creative experience focused on developing successful campaigns with measurable results (Req)
At least 10 years Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in brand development, campaign leadership, and multichannel creative execution (Req)
At least 10 years Excellent communication and collaboration skills; comfortable presenting to senior leadership, influencing stakeholders at all levels and partnering with external agencies (Req)
At least 7 years Proven track record of building and leading high-performing creative teams with a positive and inclusive culture (Req)
Healthcare, nonprofit, or mission-driven organization experience (Pref)
Education
Four-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in advertising, marketing, communications, journalism, design or related field (Req)
