Reporting to the Regional/Program Director, the CDL Program Director is responsible for providing leadership for the CDL Program. The CDL Program Director provides subject matter expertise and actively participates in curriculum development, revision, and implementation. As the subject matter expert in a particular program, this CDL Program Director provides face-to-face product knowledge training to the Admissions or student groups, utilizing materials generated via the centralized curriculum development process. When asked to engage with potential students, this position is responsive to the Admissions or client staff and actively participates in new student recruitment. The CDL Program Director is responsible for hiring, assigning, orienting, developing, evaluating, and recognizing instructors within the program(s) of study. The Director will convene meetings with faculty regularly. A maximum of 75% travel is required. This role also involves monitoring and supporting students within the program. The Director plays an active role in advising students, including during the provisional period, addressing complaints, career guidance, and consulting with students facing engagement or academic challenges. The Director analyzes student data, works with faculty and staff to identify at-risk students, contacts students to identify barriers, and provides support and information about student services. Additionally, the Director is responsible for continuous program improvement. This includes developing and maintaining the campus effectiveness plan, collecting data to analyze program performance, and sharing feedback with the academic team to improve the curriculum continuously. Experience Required: Minimum: Education varies by field of instruction: For CDL: High School Diploma or GED Valid CDL Class-A License 3 years of academic instruction experience in a post-secondary environment 5 years of experience in the commercial driving industry 5 years of management or supervisory experience Excellent customer service skills
Preferred: 7 years of academic instruction experience in a post-secondary environment 10 years of experience in the commercial driving field Working knowledge of federal/state education regulations Experience as an academic program director Experience in student guidance or related fields
