Job Summary

The Catering Director is responsible for leading all aspects of catering and events at The Cleveland Museum of Art, overseeing a team of managers and supervisors to deliver exceptional guest experiences. This role manages a $4M+ catering operation with a strong focus on client relationships, team leadership, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directs all internal and external catering and event operations.
  • Develops and executes a comprehensive catering marketing and sales plan to drive revenue growth.
  • Maintains client relationships through full-service event planning, including customized menus and detailed event coordination.
  • Oversees the hiring, training, and scheduling of a team of 56 managers and supervisors, ensuring continuous development in service, presentation, and standards.
  • Manages labor and food costs to ensure profitability and efficiency.
  • Supervises all phases of event execution: food preparation, transport, setup, service, and post-event cleanup.
  • Leads strategic menu development and pricing strategies for events.
  • Sources and manages temporary staff and equipment as needed for large-scale or complex events.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the hospitality industry, with at least 2 years in a catering or foodservice management role.
  • Proven experience in catering sales, menu costing, contract pricing, and operations management.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and manage a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering premium-quality service and exceeding client expectations.
