Compensation
We’ll pay you an annual salary of $65,000 to $70,000.
About the Job
We are seeking a strategic, empathetic, and experienced leader to serve as our Case Management & Community Support Director. This is a full-time, exempt level role, that will oversee all case management programs, supervise staff and volunteers, and build partnerships that expand our reach and impact.
Jewish Family Service is the social service arm of Shalom Austin and is dedicated to supporting vulnerable populations across the Greater Austin area. We provide compassionate care and critical resources across the life cycle—from older adults and individuals with disabilities to families facing financial hardship or recovering from a disaster.
You’ll wow us by masterfully performing the following key duties and responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision
- Oversee the day-to-day case management activities of JFS, including supervision of case managers and staff supporting client services, including transportation staff and nurse-patient advocacy.
- Supervise case managers, client support staff, and volunteers, ensuring high-quality service delivery and professional development.
- Serve on the JFS management team alongside the Executive Director, JFS Senior Social Services Director, and JFS Senior Program Director.
Program Development & Strategy
- Develop infrastructure for the Case Management department, including policies, workflows, and eligibility guidelines.
- Create and maintain budgets in partnership with the Executive Director; oversee billing and quarterly reviews.
- Design and implement educational and professional offerings for clients (e.g., employment support, financial coaching).
Community Engagement & Partnerships
- Cultivate relationships with social service agencies, professionals, and pro bono providers across Greater Austin. Formalize referral, service, and provider relationships, ensuring client access to needed services.
- Collaborate with other social service agencies on innovative approaches to address client needs.
- Represent JFS at public events, trainings, and community forums.
- Promote volunteer engagement and collaboration across Shalom Austin departments in coordination with the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator.
Data, Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure accurate documentation using JFS’s electronic record system. Implement and oversee policy and procedures regarding appropriate documentation using JFS’s electronic record system.
- Maintain program utilization and outcome data to meet funder and agency requirements.
- Support grant writing and reporting for government and private funding sources.
Training & Education
- Develop and deliver educational sessions for community professionals and partner organizations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or related field. Strong community and lived experience can substitute for education degree requirement.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in case management or social services. Experience providing case management services, such as interviewing and counseling; assisting applicants in completing forms, determining and advising applicants of eligibility for assistance, and providing or facilitating access to human services assistance.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of Greater Austin social service landscape.
- Excellent communication, time management, and project coordination skills.
- Comfort working independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
Preferred education and experience
- Master’s in Social Work or related field.
- Experience in nonprofit setting is preferred.
- Experience working with older adults and individuals with disabilities as well as knowledge of related resources is preferred.
- Training in trauma-informed care or motivational interviewing.
- Cultural competence with Judaism or Jewish culture is preferred.
