Overview

Director/Senior Director of Business Development for a mid-sized global full service clinical Contract Research Organization (CRO). The role focuses on winning new business and managing accounts with small to large sized biotechs across a broad range of therapeutic areas. Hybrid role with work-from-home flexibility and a couple of days per week in the company\'s offices in downtown San Francisco.

Responsibilities

  • Achieving agreed upon sales and business development targets, creating and implementing appropriate business development strategies for identified target markets
  • Prospecting with the goal of establishing a pipeline of sales opportunities and RFPs from potential clients; ensuring qualification for competitive advantage, timing, budget, and decision maker
  • Establishing relationships with potential CRO partners to generate RFPs that require a collaborative approach highlighting each organization\'s strengths to win new business
  • Meeting with potential clients regularly
  • Utilizing Salesforce to track client activities including meetings and opportunities, and providing updates to inform Management of current status
  • Leading and managing the sales process for leads from internal and external sources
  • Leading the proposals development process for all opportunities, ensuring strategy, budget, proposal language, and timelines meet client expectations
  • Redefining appropriate and profitable market niches for business opportunities based on evidence
  • Providing input to Marketing to support the business development process with effective marketing strategies
  • Providing input to business development leadership on territory and industry knowledge to develop sales targets, strategies, and plans
  • Working with the team to implement strategies to support the sales process, including securing resources for pre-sales activities
  • Engaging with agents and consultants in other geographic locations to support business development
  • Engaging with internal research staff to maximize selling opportunities related to travel schedules
  • Identifying and attending appropriate conferences and trade shows to create business opportunities
